Title: Proposed name change: National Homebrew Association
Post by: admin on February 06, 2013, 09:38:58 PM
Only academic really, but in line with other international homebrew organisations (AHA in US, Craft Brewing Association in UK) should we rename -- after the competition -- to the National Homebrew Association. Personally I would be thinking yes. What are other peoples thoughts?

Is Association a collective of Clubs?

A selection of alternates...
Alliance, Association, Coalition, Confederation, Fellowship, Organisation, Ring, Society, Syndicate, Union

I like the National Fellowship of Homebrewers

Its a bit of a Peoples Front of Judaea thing

Jesus John,I wish you were standing in the Ulster bank that day Tube and I were setting up the a/c and we were asked for a name. They are great suggestions. :)

I dunno, the "National Homebrewers Ring" sounds a bit eh... sinister.. :)

In the bank that day,I suggested
"The National Brotherhood of Republican Brewers of Ireland." Tube  said no that was too limited so then I suggested,
"The National Brotherhood of Republican and Unionist Brewers Of Ireland ". (Thinking quietly to myself and looking at the girl in the bank trying to figure out how to write that into the little box on the application form :D). After Tube stopped laughing,he said no. I figured he felt that our Unionist Brothers might say,why did it not read as,
"The National Brotherhood of Unionist and Republican Brewers of Ireland and Northern Ireland." :-/

QuoteI have to admit Eoin that your's sounds like it's very forward thinking. Well at least it would have if this was still the 80s! ;)

Like I said, we need more brewers with vision, that was a compliment to the poster as well as a dig at present management!  ::)

Association to me implies a loose grouping of bunches of people with similar but sometimes disparate ideas. ( Like the NRA in the States  :-X)

Club on the other hand is a warm friendly place where people get close.

Leave it alone please

Charlton Heston said it best:

"So, as we set out this year to defeat the divisive forces that would take homebrew away, I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed, and especially for you, Minister Reilly: 'From my cold, dead hands!"
