Title: Adapter to convert Regulator thread
Post by: arrbee on August 28, 2018, 02:00:39 PM
I managed to get the wrong thread on a co2 regulator, I'm guessing I got an american one...

What do I need to connect it to my bottle?
Is there a thread adapter or something?

Stick up a picture there and let's see what you've bought.

That's the problem with cheap regs sometimes

You can swap them out easy enough I did on a paintball reg from China with US nuts

WillD is an expert in this area, but I think this is what you are after you may find them cheaper if you hunt around.

Weldability Sif Co2 Regulator Nut https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00E9Y8LXQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_.pLHBb4X3MF8F

Show us a pic first tho

I'll take a pic tonight...

This is a secondary reg so I was happy to take a punt.

worst case I will swap the valves and gauges around and turn it into a dumb pressure gauge to monitor keg pressure.
It would be a handy thing to have for discovering slow leaks and monitoring co2 absorbtion.

Always handy to have a spare of everything in brewing

Was trying to see your threads or it it was male or female. That nut I posted will sort you out, do you have a vernier, might be no harm just to check internal diameter just to check.

If there is a recycling centre or scrap yard near you blag the nut off a scrap fire extinguisher as they are the correct thread. Must be a big brass nut and not a skimpy plated oe aluminium one ( not deep enough). Beware though, some fe-exs have a small grub screw in the nut to lock it on! Brute force feckks the thread. Ask me how I know!!

I see!  Thanks.
I should be able to borrow a vernier until Lidl next have them  :)

The product page says 1/2" but I'm not convinced that the info is 100% correct.
taken from the product page:
Shank: G1/2
Inner diameter 1/2 "

Is there a standard name for the thread on the CO2 bottle valve?
I see all sorts to standards mentioned like: din477, w21.8, cga320, etc.

Would be interested in the answer to this question if anyone knows. Would also like to take a punt on a 2nd reg on Aliexpress.

Thanks,
Kevin
