Title: Recommendations for buying a 3 tap beer tower
Post by: Pat_buttercups on September 09, 2018, 10:36:59 PM
Setting up a new keezer and am considering going for a beer tower. Anyone have any experience or recommendations here? good spots to buy them.
Cheers

Where would you mount it?

My keezer is a WIP currently.  (all I've done so far is set up temp control)
I will be going the collar route and mounting taps on that while also allowing gas line(s) in and 2 extra kegs ontop of the compressor hump.
Plus the wooden collar allows for mounting other things.

Im thinking of mounting it on the top of the lid. or possibly tiling the lid and doing it that way. My first attempt I had only a small freezer that could barely fit 2 and went the collar way, but im not the best carpenter and it didn't end up looking great.

I'm no carpenter either so hoping that mine doesnt turn out too bad, but I reckon a lid mounted tap would bring a different set of problems.
Still, others have done it I guess.

Tiling the lid would look cool if it was done neatly. :)

I tiled the lid of my keezer. Looked good for a few months until beer got spilled on it and some of the tiles started lifting up. It also adds a lot of weight to the lid. I'm thinking of stripping the tiles off and maybe doing a coloured epoxy on top

Or if you are artistic, paint a picture and have clear epoxy...!

Thanks :)
Yeah been ding a good bit of research on it dont want it to end up looking ugly like my last last "minimum viable product" approach. But still want something usable and clean. I'm definitely liking the clear epoxy approach.
Whats actually looking like the best option is to start with the Wooden collar (since you kind of want the height anyway) then build the bar on top.
I was orginally fairly sold on some thing like

But after going through a few (a lot) of people builds Im more thinking something like

Of course my attempt wouldnt be anywhere near that nice but the concept of building the a wooden box on top of the bar instead of the stainless steel tower plus I get the advantage of reusing taps from my current build just pop them out of where they are mounted and into the new build when Im ready
