Who's going?
Just got my pass for Feb 16th :)
Handy as the closing date for the NHC Homebrew Competition is the 15th and the Well is a Drop Point, so we'll be able to bring all the entries back up with us.
BTW, for anyone looking for cheap, clean and fairly quiet lodgings, the Travelodge is currently showing at €35 a room for the night. Stayed there last year.

I hope to be there too.
As I live so far out on the sticks, I might be joining you in the Travelodge!
You could always try bru hostel on MacCurtain St.
I stayed there the night off the office Xmas drinkies for EUR19.
Basic, but clean.
Also, it's between the Well and the train station, and dangerously close to the Abbott's Ale house...
Travelodge just bumped price to €52 per room. Anyone looking for a cheap bunk companion?
they must monitor the numberof enquiries for a date and ramp up their prices accordingly.
There was an IT rumour that:
You checked a lowcost airline fare in Ireland and got a price.
When you had checked the price of the National Carrier you went back to the LCA
If it recognised your IP address from a few hours before it bumped the prices as ye' were now likely to book.
We just used to use other computers/routers/networks when we were travelling with the LCA
WIll
the evening Shane posted I checked and it was higher, 42 I think.
Lads Shiela's hostel. 4 bed dorm between 4 (if you dont like sharing with attractive young girls ::) ) 15-17 euro a head (ensuite or not)
If Paddy is on the desk he'll talk beer to you all day as well
After much deliberation and 350 for a new dress, I have now been give a visa for the week-end of the 16th.
Radison is either Little Island or up at airport, so I will have to slum it in the Gresham. Which btw is only 59 for a single or double.
Tube let me know if you and Dempse want a lift on Sat Morn.
Is this a ticket event with stupid beer tokens? didn't think so ;)

Seeing as I'm in Cork, will I organise this for bods?
Also, is this for Friday, Saturday, or both?
Tentative list...

If i sleep in a dorm I'm the only one who sleeps. people don't appreciate the quality of my snoring.
But I might end up in the well alright.
What's all this about passes?
Probably be there on the Saturday.

I can confirm both Paddys beer talk and the attractive young girls stories to be true ;)
I also spent time supping White Gypsy Amber at the bar in Bru while waiting for a bus after last years cask festival. The part-owner there (a kiwi I think, he insisted I have a bottle of Macs Gold on the house) was the brewer in Kinsale brewery. Seemed like a friendly place - he has a luggage shelf that people just came in and left their bags on to be minded FOC. Nice touch so near the 2 stations 8-)

3. Lugh (tentatively- I may be going for Friday night instead)
Quotepermission from his wife
it all makes sense now ;)
Road testing Sheilas on Friday 18th.
What interest is there in hosteling for the Cask Ale Festival?
Group booking? reserve a room/beds? Rooms sleep 4/6/8.
Do we need a list for Fri and Sat?
My accommodation situation will have changed by then, so I'm not putting myself down just yet, but can do the legwork.
So who has a weekend pass
Friday
Saturday
1) Ciderhead
2) Dempsey
3) Tube
Anyone else, there is one spot still in Ciderheads car from Dublin return if anybody wants a lift down and back.
We are slumming it in the travel lodge :)
im trying to geta crew to go down for this on 16th - its my 30th on the 19th. so thought i might make an occasion of it.
Not sure if people saw the post on Beoir in relation to vouchers for Beoir members on the Friday, but I've asked Shane and something similar will be open to NHC members. As we don't have membership cards yet, I suggest that anyone wearing a NHC hoody or tshirt should be eligible.
My wife is whisking me away for a romantic weekend that weekend! Especially for Valentines! Isn't she great... "where shall we go Padraic..." Still firming up plans but most likely I'll be queueing at the door waiting for them to open on Friday!
Cool beans Taf.
So if I'm a card carrying Beoir member wearing a NHC shirt?...

Ha ha, yes I thought of that as well, as many of us would be in that position, but probably wise not to push it.
I have a Tee for both.
Get a pint, disappear for 30 secs, pull one Tee over the other, then return and ask for a pint.
'What? No I've not had a beer in ages. That must have been my Evil twin brother.'
or the new member who is using your avator :-?
Well Brian - If you frequented some of the technical Geek forums you would find that quite alot of people have stolen "John's" avatar.
:P
Ye cheeky pups >:(
Guys, Gobus.ie travel to cork now (not sure if ye are aware) but it's non stop from busáras to the bus station in cork, takes 2 hours and 45 mins for €20 return.
Just a cheaper alternative than the train in the same amount of time = MORE BEER MONEY :)
You have to buy your ticket online though.
Handy to know!! Cheers.
Is there a website for the festival itself?
It should be in here...
http://molsoncoors.com/en/Index.aspx
:p

Coors now own the brewery side of things, but not the pub so I don't think they would have much to do with the festivals.
Shane still owns the pub.
So M/C own the brewery in the pub,but not the pub,is that it.
Right im prety much commited to this - ill have 5 or 6 lads going. Have to find accomodation now - if i mention the word hostel to them they'll freak - might be more craic any way if we book into the room next door to Dempsey and keep him awake all night.
:)
Rossa one spot left on the Franciscan express return if you can get weekend pass!
I stayed in Sheila last night and for my purposes (Bed required, n nothing more) it was perfect...
http://www.sheilashostel.ie/
I guess leave it up to yerselves to book etc. Its as little a EUR15 per night, you can get brekky for EUR3, plus they have deals with the Shelbourne bar - 15% discount and 4Star Pizza - 50% off if you show your lodging ticket.

Hmmm... Pretty foreign hippies? ;)
Just watched Morticia Addams give the forecast from Met Eireann for the weekend, dry and warm, a positively balmy 11 Degrees :)
Good stuff -
Im booked on the 10am train with a few of the lads - and meeting another couple down there.
Booked into the travellodge too - only realised afterwards ill have to go out of town from the train station to the hotel n straight back in again to the pub.
All you other travellodgers are prob driving.
Next year we are hiring a minibus! :)
jeez you fellas will be there at 1230?
yeah its 2:35 mins.
Why? is that early or late?
It starts at 2 doesnt it? That'll gimme a chance to get the bags into the hotel and work out where the jax is for when i come bursting in the door again later after the feed of cask ale.

Can you lot post up what time you're going to be in town on Sat?
I have to Pick up a bag of grain anyway, so dragging a few bodies into Town is not a problem.
If the times are reasonably close, I can park up at the Well, abstain and salivate for a while then maybe do another run.
I'm getting auld, need to pace myself!

I am all about being the early bird like a kid on christmas morning, spot of priming lunch in the English market, bit of light banter with locals without an interpreter, but can't get that lazy fecker tube out of his virtuous couch early on sat morning so will be leaving Dub at 11 and will be two or three as we booze our way down the m9
talked a work mate into going so i scored myself a chauffeur ;D
leaving dub around 12
If anyone is coming by train, and hasn't booked their tickets yet, they can use promo code LUV1727 to get 14% off before midnight tonight, thursday the 14th.

Nice offer John - there's 4 in my party - we'll be arriving at 12.35am at the train station.
But not exactly sure what our immediate movements will be after that. So don't worry about us.
QuoteIt's easy enough to spot Jimmy anyway. He has an army haircut, an eyebrow on his top lip, a medallion, and a white track suit.
;D
The medallion was first prize for being the best dress Tallaghtfornian :D
Ah yeah i get it now - payback for the grandad and slippers jokes - I suppose ciderhead is next :)
;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

BREAKING NEWS:
Cork area hit by social networking blackout:
Despite the likes of SMS/Twitter/Facebook/F**K book(oops = finger trouble) there has been no realtime, online news from th FW Cask fest.
Boring auld Far*s who had to stay at home to collect bottles of HB for some undersubscribed comp. in Dublin haven't a clue whats going on.
If there was a spy cam in the FW I'm sure it would show you all fingering your pints instead of ye're mobiles
What the CS is happening???
You know you are drinking too much when you go to the loo and your pee creates a head in the urinal,we are knoe in the Abbot Ale House.
Just got back from Cork. What an evening!
Only disappointed that by the time I got there they already run out of Trouble IPA and two new beers from Metalman.
Had a chance to try following:
FW Jameson Stout
FW Purgatory PA
FW Alpha Dawg
FW Rebel Red
O'Haras Leann Follain
Metalman PA
White Gypsy Emerald PA
all except WG were reeeeeaaaalllllyyyy good!
Huge difference between those on tap and on cask.
Also the pizza with goat cheese and chorizo from wood fired pizza oven was exceptional, and just for 10e!!!
Anyway ... here are few pictures that I took that night :)
PICTURES (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qhhcqjx11pllip8/WRcl7hJCPn/Cork)
Thanks for posting pictures of me stuffing my face ;D
I have to admit of 20 beers on offer I tried 16 :o and unfortunately there were some complete duffers which I didn't finish and confirmed to me just how tricky it can be to serve good beer in casks, for me the FW Purgatory was the best of the evening.
Well done to FW for organising.
Great day - Looking forward to next year :)
Can't wait for next year!
I might not have to and just wander to the easterfest...
Good to see all those I had a chance to chat to, it was too short to get chatting to everyone!

And fair play to Ronan for buying a t-shirt specially for the occasion.
i would not say specially for the occasion more like just in time

one of the guys at my table took a 3d photo, might have been better if we were not in the corner

If you have rooted Jelly Bean 4.2 then you should be able.
Can I get the jelly beans in any shop or do I need to get special ones. :)
Dempsey hasnt had a rooted jelly bean since that bag of sweets he planted in the garden.
Tell me about it,the man said I could find wealth and riches if I planted them. What he did not tell me was that I had to climb a big stalk run by Ryanair.

the guy whipped out a tripod and took about 6 horizontal pictures and another 6 or so at a downward angle. Did a very good job of not having the tripod in the end picture
I feel drunk looking at that photo. :o
Which isn't good as I'm in work atm. ;D
