As per the title. There are 21 clubs listed on the forum - how many are still going? I'm aware that many clubs use Whatsapp or Facebook to organise meetings and stuff like that, but many clubs don't seem to have much presence on here any more. The following clubs have not posted anything on this forum regarding meetings in the past 6 months
Erne Homebrew Club
Kerry Brewers
Kilkenny Brewing Club
Royal County Brewers
Sligo Homebrew Club
South Central Brewers
South Eastern Brewers
South Kildare Brewers
Are these clubs still going?
Many others have only sporadic meetings listed on here too. Of the clubs that are still active, what is the attendence like at meetings? How often are meetings? How often are new people coming along to meetings, and how are they finding out about their local club?
Just some questions O0
GCB is 30+, what?s ap killed forum 🤷🏻♂️
Kilkenny still active but haven't met in a few months. Mostly down to summer commitments. We get around 4-6 attending and usually try to meet every 1-2 months. Don't get many new faces at meetings and to be honest haven't done a whole lot to drive new membership lately. WhatsApp isn't too active either.
We haven?t met since jan either but hopefully we?ll get something sorted over the next month!
As far as the south Central Brewers goes - currently we are a bunch of two. And we both work in the same place. So, in a way, we have very regular meetings.
There is / was other members in the past (before my time), some have moved on from the area, not sure about others.
We aren't very formally active, but do our bit of spreading the word so to speak (in small ways) (might even be exaggerating that) .
But, still a kindle there in the club
South Kildare haven't met in I don't know how long and I'm not 100% sure what caused the decline. The WhatsApp group is sporadic but I know that the members are brewing actively we're just not meeting as a club.
Even for some of the larger clubs, what can be done to recruit and maintain membership and get activity back on the forum?
Wee County are still up and running. It's been difficult to sort a meeting over the last few months with summer holidays and there are 4 of us doing the BJCP, which has kind of put the brakes on a meeting this month (we meet on Fridays).
The WhatsApp is fairly active and we've our Christmas hooley sorted, so we're still ticking along. Meetings are usually somewhere between 5 and 10 strong.
Belfast Homebrew Club still active, in fact 8 of us met last week in Northern Lights, with a few plans for Brewdays, Brewery visits (& brews) and hopefully resurrect our Quintessential Competition next year.
The promise of a few free chicken wings have given us new life!
Agree that WhatsApp killed the Forum as we communicate more regularly through that now.
In saying that, I still read the forum posts most days.

Too many nut jobs on the forum, much easier to deal and share loads of info on a local level
If whatsapp is being used to organise meetings, how are clubs getting the word out and actively seeking new members?
Royal County very inactive. Not had a meeting in 18 month's. We were having meeting's every 6 weeks or so but only 4 or 5 would attend.
We have a What's app group with 18 members but I've never met about 10 of them.
I reckon it's a core group of 6 with some brewing monthly.
We are spread all over the county and even Cavan.
Had planned a meeting in Bru pub Navan next Saturday but it's closed since last Friday.
Erne HomeBrew Club
Club is still going. We have 3 core members and a few bob in and out. Meetings have been few and far between and are now each others houses since the close of Weatherspoons and the complete lack of any other bar that serves Good beer.
No one except me uses or views the forum so the Facebook group is the only place we use to collaborate.
I post our Facebook page every now and then in local Facebook community groups etc to try and get word out.
As CH said - GCB are very active currently and our WhatsApp group is hopping. It's much easier to share info, ask questions and post pictures to each other there rather than on the forum. There's less "fear" of saying the wrong thing or answering a question incorrectly there.
We've out grown our last meeting location and have moved to a different part of the harbour now too so our numbers can be accommodated.
All in good in GCB
I am in the Southeast, but I can't find any posts on Southeastern Brewers..

I was at Ballykilcavan brewery yesterday for their hop picking and happened to meet someone from Midland Brewers.
I don't want to speak for them, but apparently they are active and using facebook to organise stuff.

Most of us are anyway John :o :) :) :) :)
Capital can't even seem to keep one whatsapp group together never mind the forum  Pros/cons but its kind of a shame that useful info that used to publicly available is now confined to private groups.
The Kerry brewers haven't met for the bones of 6 months. There was only ever 4 of us and one of the guys has sold all his gear. I haven't brewed in a while myself and have been contemplating throwing my hat at it. Our WhatsApp is somewhat active and Johnrm was kind enough to add us all to the Rebels group chat.
South Dublin meets once a most of the time. I think its fair to say we are not as active as we once were. We lost some members over the years mainly through people relocating and unfortunately they were regulars. However we still keep going but in a more modest capacity.
