Looking forward to more beers
I'm running the bar at the festival and will be there pretty much the entire time it is open. Looking forward to it. :)
You are very conspicious on last years video, I hope you told them you were in equity.
Looks like I will be working as well -under the the Goat ..
Ok thats sounds Weird ... ;D
The image makes it look like it's the St Patricks Sausage Fest; don't any women go to these things?
5 guys, a rainbow colored shirt, a prominently featured man purse and it's called the "Craft Beer Village"? Sooo many jokes possible... It looks to be a gay old time, all right. ;)
Adam
I kinda walked into that one !
How much was it for a pint at this last year? Was there but can't remember.
Aye right, I am not going to be paying many fivers to freeze my arse off in a tent with a plastic cup of beer. Will pay it a visit on friday and relocate to a pub soon after.
I might pop in on the Thursday for a few, if its anything like last year I would only be able to tolerate the freezing cold for a few hours.
heading in today to make sure i get some of the festival beers. O'Hara's Double IPA :D
I'm popping in tomarrow after noon bout 3 'ish ( James aka P9 is working ::) then )
Will wear my red polo - ye never know who will recognise the shirt and what it stands for. May just leave the medals at home - I look like a D**K enough anyway!

DJ Skobie @ 7 on Sunday evening? :o

We have heaters now. :)
I wont be around.
Was thinking of heading in on saturday for an hour during the day as will be bringing the chisler in to play on whatever it is they have put in town for kids to play on, but the fiver charge will probably push me into the not bothering camp.
There's a thing, I wasnt planning on bringing her in, it was going to be a "you go the pub, we got the shops affair" - but are kids allowed in?
will probably be in today after work
I know the beers are great but what is the food like?
Last year it got a bit of a slagging ( rightly so ) for lack of choice/craft/imagination
Forewarned is Forearmed (Bring a Twix) More filling than that burger!! :-/
QuoteOne of the lads made an interesting point last night. As these are commercial, profit-making events, anyone volunteering to work for free could be doing someone who really needs a paid job out of one.
:o
Outrageous Statement !
Was Volunteering last night - great craic - great to be involved with an event promoting great Irish Beers.
Guys its only Irish beers on sale, a lot of these business are 'fledgeling' and need support. This event promotes Irish Craft beer and promotes these Irish breweries.
Its Beoirs Bag in fairness but personally I dont feel like I'm doing someone out of a job - quite the opposite - I feel like I'm helping small businesses expand and develop - which in turn should create and maintain employment in this sector.
But I know people have different opinions - which I don't agree with - but I do respect.
If we didn't have different opinions we would have nothing to talk about ! ;)
+1 James.
If you just employ the unemployed what do they know about craft beer??
Remeber last year some young person pulling a hand-pump handle down and being surpised that the beer didn't flow out.
You need knowlegable staff at these festivals to talk up the ICB thing not put people off it!
Pieman food is the best option I've found, there's also a really nice sandwich shop beside the Spar on the northern side of the pavilion (?).
Volunteers are only there for a couple of hours so hardly doing anyone out of a job, plus they know more about the beer than most of the rest of the staff. Thing is, you're never going to be able to find a lot of trained bar staff around St.Patrick's week, never mind staff who know about craft beer.
O'Hara's DIPA should be back on today, I've asked for as many more kegs as we can get. Very tasty stuff.
Volunteers are getting free food + drinks too (and I certainly wasn't counting how many I was giving each).
With regards to the food -
I had the Steak and Porter Pie - it was fantastic !
I think to look at the event as a commercial venture whose sole objective is to make a profit is flawed.
It is true that it is organized by an events company but it objective is to promote Irish Craft Beer and try to make some money to ensure the festivals are viable. I think its great and love the idea of Irish Craft Beer festivals.
You have to appreciate these events put some of the smaller breweries on the map - it enables them to get their product to an audience that they potentially cant get to - some of them cant get taps into many Dublin Pubs. The amount of tourists ordering Irish Beer yesterday was great - think about it - these guys are going back to their homes in Italy or where-ever and talking of great Irish beer.
Export markets are tough but if people have heard of your beer - it helps.
Just my 2 cents !

Well taken care of - great night - Thanks Mr Goat !
I'll have to +1 about the beer and heat being alot better than last year.
The barstaff were very good! Thanks Thomas and James!! (Ye never let me wait for my turn to order!!)
The burger was shocking, which is a pity as I wasn't in a pie mood! Are they the same pies as were at the RDS last time? (They were really good)
@Tube I remember the burgers and hot dogs last year, both priced at under a fiver and I had both!
It's a pity I'm away for the weekend and won't be able to make it in again!
