Title: Canning, Canners, and Cans
Post by: johnrm on July 31, 2024, 09:38:55 PM
Word on the street has it that some brewers are canning.

What system are you using?
Where did you get it?
Where do you get consumables?
What can sizes does it take?
Are you happy with it?

I have this machine:
https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/tmm-automatic-can-seamer/?v=d2cb7bbc0d23

It's height adjustable but there's no setup needed as it works straight out of the box and has spacers for 330, 440 and 500ml cans. One touch to seam - can't fault it at all.

They sell all can sizes there and got a couple of boxes with lids directly from them to begin with but I since had a word with a local brewery who were happy to let me take some cans and lids from their stock at cost price which should last a while.

Geterbrewed sell cans and machines (semi automatic) too.

Using the kegland filling gun which allows you to purge before filling.

It's a bit of a spend but very happy with it.

That's a nice looking machine. Bit too spendy for me but I wonder if a local club chipped in and then members just had to buy their own cans (and clean the thing afterwards)

That looks pretty good.
Someone local (Midleton) has Gorilla (https://www.gorillacanning.com/product-page/gorilla-one)
This is a manual seamer and seems to be unavailable currently

Consumables seem to be a bit of an issue with cans.
Cost, shipping and storage (buy more to achieve a price point), and there are variations in the die/seamer so you need to be sure you're getting the right ones.
