Put my latest Bramling Cross ale into the fermentation fridge last Thursday, set the temp to 18C and off I went.
Went out today to check how things were progressing and noticed a lovely smell coming from the shed.
Turns out I forgot to put the temperature probe inside the fridge. When I opened the door I was hit with a blast of heat, and a slight burning smell. Took out the fermenter and opened the lid to be greeted by steam!
Poured it all down the drain, but should have taken the gravity first as it might have actually half fermented. It smelled awesome in a mulled wine sort of way.
Bummer, lesson learned.
It's a bummer when you forget where you put the temp probe :P
wait til ya get your leccy bill!
What wattage was your heat source and how long was it on?
I wonder what it would have been like if you allowed it to cool and pitched new yeast.
Genuinely curious as to what the flavour would be.
Redo the experiment!
What was the temp in the Fridge for a finish?
