Title: How do you calculate the alcohol content?
Post by: pk on April 25, 2013, 08:47:48 PM
Newbie question  ::)

For kits (coopers) I used their formula (OG-FG)/7.46 + 0.5 = %alcohol by volume.

Just wondering is it the same for extract brews?

My OG is 1050 and FG is 1012.  Total volume before boiling was 26 litres.

Thanks in advance guys
Paul

I usually use this calculator:

Temperatures are in °F not celcius though, but Google will do the conversion for you.

OG-FG*0.131 = %ABV
