Hi All,
Another newbie here. Went on a course at Loughry, bought a lot of kit -but - bet you guessed there was a but coming? - but - I've yet to brew! Hoping to get started in the next few weeks. Missed the demo at the Hudson last weekend - but managed to make it down for a pint of Joker IPA later that night.
So, I'm looking forward to meeting and sharing my learning experiences with you.
Gotta go. A bottle of Thornbridge's Jaipur calling me from the fridge.

Hi Andy - welcome!
What was the course like?
Hi Andy Patrick here from Antrim. Been brewing over a year and a half with 5 brews under my belt. Still kit brewing but intend to turn to the dark side namely all grain brewing at some stage. Get cracking at the brewing you'll love it, its a great hobby especially enjoying the fruits of your labour.

Hi Andy - welcome!
What was the course like?
Hi.....I enjoyed the course at Loughry. It was over 2 days and a good mix of theory and hands on brewing. We covered - recipe formulation, mashing, sparging, calculation of mash efficiency, flash cooling, fermentation, racking, conditioning / largering, fining, filtration, counter-pressure bottling, yeast viability, bottle conditioning, casks, kegs and % ABV calculation - at least thats what scribbled in my notes! Hope I remember it all, when I get started!
They ran a cider course recently, but the programme seemed to be all theory.
