Title: Is wheat DME 100% wheat
Post by: Eoink on May 12, 2013, 04:59:26 PM
I made a Belgian wit beer using 50:50 wheat DME and light DME. It tasted fine but the colour was more brown/orange than white.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that Wheat DME is actually a 50:50  barley/wheat mix, does anybody know if this is true?

That would mean a 75:25 mix which could explain the colour

Wheat DME is nearly always a 50:50 mix of wheat and barley malt, as far as I know.

Thanks for the replys.
The bag I have doesn't specify the mix. I will try the next batch using 100% "wheat DME"
