Thank You
Me please, this isn't really a club sanctioned group buy as they will be for members only. A brewer friend was putting in an order and asked if we'd like to piggy back, hence the last minute ness of it all.
I would like to also point out I am not making a single cent from this.
just a question on above comment, group buys for members only????? clarification needed please????
Thats the idea as i understand it.
Only members will be able to use the club bank account to organise group buys. Fair enough i would have thought siince members are the one funding the charges for the bank account.
I must also add...
Group buys run by club members (e.g. the "few monthly" malt buy or the annual-ish hop buy) will be offered to members first and then non-members if the numbers need to be made up, from what i understand.
see this from the thread when you last complained :)

This group buy was posted in the 'Public Group Buys' section.
Surely thats a big hint. ::)
This was a last minute opportunistic group buy, I am positive with membership being rolled out next ... this will be the very last group buy for grain in the public section and the next one will be for members first and foremost, right Partridge? ;)
Makes no difference anyway... that GB was organised through declan's personal account. The club had nothing to do with it.
Im just making the point that non-members can do pretty much what they like on the forum in terms of organising group activities. Everything is covered in that; from buying stuff to going for a pint together.... But if they wish to use the club account, they must be a member and follow the rules set out by the club (e.g. members get priority)
Thats how i understand it anyway.
And when Cara skips across the border with all your money in his bank account there will be no comeback to the NHC :D :D ??? ;)

Starting to look a lot like trolling here FBB. Its a service, you pay for it. If you want to organise your own group buy go ahead. No one is stopping you and no one is making you pay the membership. End of.

What happened there?
It would be great if the club could facilitate group buys by providing a location for delivery and distribution of group buys. Is this possible? Personally, I would be quite happy to organise a grain but, for example, and it wouldn't be a huge deal for me to take everyone's money and make the purchase but I'd have a problem safely storing and distributing the grain(without rodents)!!!

It was obviously something you said!
Featherbed is right to ask the question btw
Need to be careful here though chaps, group buys should really only be initiated and solicited in members group buy area to start with and there should be an overflow into the public area only in required, which I doubt frankly will ever happen on commodity products.
The concept is to use the club account for funds to be paid into and released to group buy purchaser, this allows sufficient cashflow for the individual organising it and critically it protects the buyer.
There is unbelievable purchasing power on this forum as has been demonstrated in the last 24 hours, but that has to be harnessed for the benefit of the members and the club not unpaid members.
The whole concept of the forum and group buys is to offer cheaper products to subscribed members through volume purchasing, not joe public non members.
A worse case scenario would be if a group buyer show up in the public area, solicits money and then pisses off with the money or short changes sellers there will be tears :(
Plus one to what Ciderhead has said. Was following this thread and just dont know what featherbedbrew was getting all vexed about. This is a voluntary club no different than any other club and its members group together from time to time to do a group buy.
I'm with Dempsey.
I think that no answer was going to be the right one for FB.
I'm curious to know if we're missing something here.
Anyone?
I think his point was that members would be using non-members if they can't get the numbers themselves and thats a bad thing for some reason
How come a guest managed to post on this thread?
He decided to be a former member.
Oh well...

I am wondering myself given we had another SE member recently decide to stop posting because he did not like his thread . ::)
Lads, I'm locking this thread.
If you object please PM me.
Thanks.
