Post by: AJ_Rowley on March 12, 2013, 08:53:12 AM
Hey guys just wondering if any of you guys know where to get some polycarbonate tubes to use for a sight glass. Or even any plastic tube that could be used?

Cheers

Consider Glass, PC, is now banned is use of production of baby bottles(BPA), in fact PC is not being used in my industry at all for food contact and hot foodstuffs or liquids especially at elevated temperatures.
I don't want appear to be alarmist, but like heavy metals it doesn't dissipate, and can have long term effects still totally unknown.
Worse still Sodium hypochlorite bleach and other alkali cleaners catalyze the release of the bisphenol A from polycarbonate.
I guess like cigarettes 40 years ago they were harmless too right?

Now you are going to ask me where can you buy glass tube, not a clue, Shiny might, use a marked dipstick thats the easiest.

I got mine at http://www.lennox.ie/. Called into them and got 11mm glass tubing 1800mm long. Easy to cut use a hack saw and score a line around it and snap it.
