Lads,
Some help needed here for the "mechanically-challenged".. Has anyone had issues with thread galling on stainless steel fittings?
I've recently purchased a stainless steel bulkhead and ball-valve tap along with some SS disconnects and I can't get the disconnects into the tap, not even half-way. Would teflon tape be a solution here? Or a food-grade lubricant?
Cheers,
Conor.
Bring it with you tonight and we will have a goo. :)
Cheers Brian, will do.
In British Standard Pipe Threads (BSP) there are two standards:
Tapered and parrallel
Often quoted as BSPP and BSPT
The males are either P or T the females are always ( IIRC )
BSPP.
So if it only screws in part of the way it may be a T.
Thread galling is usually visible in 1/2" bsp or can be felt with a thumb nail and can be corrected with a small triangular needle file. Female threads tend not to get galled!!
