Title: Home brewing supplies
Post by: UpsidedownA (Andrew) on June 06, 2013, 07:20:29 AM
The homebrew shops of ireland seem to be running their stocks down. I've been looking for a couple of things recently and I've noticed that both HBW and HBC have had certain things out of stock for several weeks.

Starsan is being imported directly from the US by HBC afaik, and Cirta is a hipster hop, proprietary (i.e. limited supply) and Simply Hops are out of it aswell which means the 2012 harvest is probably all gone!

I was out of that hop like last week before you even knew it existed.

From what I know Starsan will be available in the next two weeks.

What are you short on Andrew? People might just have some to spare!

Well, I recently bought a plate chiller and I now need heavy duty hose that will take hot water to use it. I also want the proper weihenstefan weizen yeast because that makes the best wheat beers in my opinion and the ridiculously good weather we've been having has put me in the mood for wheat beer. Those were the specific things, but just browsing HBW and HBC there seemed to be many products that were listed as not in stock. I got an email from Shane and HBC and he said they did in fact have the tubing, but it wasn't showing up on the system for some reason. So, I guess it's not a case of running down stock but rather a kid of communication problem.

You legend! I eventually ordered WLP300 from HBC based on the description. It would be quite nice to compare the two side by side, so I might stop by one evening to pick it up.

This is what I use for hot wort side of my plate chiller:

For the water side I use half inch braided hose.  I got it for 1.00e per meter in Tipp in the local farm shop.
Its 5.00e per meter in Galway in the hardware & plumb shops. Robbery!

What sort of fittings are suited to that 9x13 Silicon hose?
Is it barbs all round?
