Do we want to do swaps as well as tasting?
For swaps, bring 2x500ml and take away 2x500ml?

I like that idea.
Tske-away gives everyone an opportunity to...
Sit and chill with Full beers.
Drink them at the appropriate temperature.
Allows the yeast cake to settle back down!
Hurried samples are fine and fun, but can be a bit hard on the head!
Is that a Saturday?
Did I say it was at Garrys and he's a great barbie chef! ::)

Saturday would be my preference. I don't mind the brain fog on a Sunday!
Do you want to set up a poll John?
Am thinking of doing Kinsale Pale Ale Cork City Launch at the Well on the 26 July so would be good to have this the same night and make sure I get as many of the Rebels in as possible!
*Updated to clarify this is another launch for Cork City after this weeks launch in Kinsale :)

Taf mentioned that on Saturday, sounds like a plan to me!
Launch is confirmed for Friday 26th so I will be bringing a lot if Kinsale Pale Ale to the meet up and maybe a black IPA if a can squeeze in a homebrew session this week.
Looking like Fri. 26th based on the Poll.
Can whoever is down for the 27th manage the 26th?
I'm the black sheep who voted for Saturday, I should be able to do Friday though.
Good man Garry!

The 26th should be ok. I'll try flexitime work.
I've only a few beers in-house at the moment and they're fairly young, but I'll rustle something up.
I have a Coopers Australian Pale Ale hacked (hopped and darkened) that'd be interesting to compare with Garry's. :)

Will we do takeaway/swaps with some sampling?
We need to support that Black fella you know...
Time? Sams gig kicks off @8 AFAIK, so there for then.

I added a few hops to my APA too. Nothing scientific, I had 4 left over packs in the freezer and decided to use them all ??? Dana hops.
We can compare against Sam's KPA too :)

I'll bring a few extra bottles if anyone wants to swap. I agree that we should support Sam on the night though.
He is easily supported as it is lovely tack.
Yeah, I think I'll go out to the fridge and support him right now. :D
On topic, I agree we should support sam on the evening, and swaps sounds good as well, but it's been a while since i made it to a meet at the well which involved a traditional tasting so i hope we'll strike a bit of a balance.
Guys, I would do the tasting and swapping at whatever level you want to don't make any special exceptions on my count, i plan to sample a few of the homebrews on offer too! You guys being around is support enough really, but i hope i can tempt you all into a pint of KPA at some stage in the evening.
I'm sure that we'll have multiple KPAs repeatedly and in excess.
Oh, I just noticed that I have a few bottles of 'Nettelbrau' sitting in the corner, Country beer made mostly from nettles. It is extremely odd, and I'm not sure it would be to anybody's liking, certainly not mine.
But if anyone's curious in trying this concoction, I'll bring a few.
I've had nettle ale before.
Interesting stuff, not a session ale!
Quote from: LordEoin on July 12, 2013, 01:43:23 PM
Country beer made mostly from nettles.
As in, using the nettles as the grist, rather than just as a substitute for hops?
It is basically made from nettles, some lemon, brown sugar and ale yeast.
The recipe I pulled specifically said not to use grain, malt or hops.
The nettles pack a flavor alright, although I'm not sure it's a flavor I'd want to aim for again.
It's not disgusting or infected or anything, just quite a strong and unusual taste and mouthfeel.
I'll bring a few for the curious. You might see a use for the flavor in something else.
Otherwise, you can always wash it down with a pint of KPA and move on! :D
Sounds interesting.
I'll be bringing some weird stuff as well: the gose is still conditioning but I reckon it's like a cross between a witbier and a tequila slammer.

7) Dara - American amber (Jamil's evil twin)
Hopefully will make this one. Would be interested in the nettle stuff - seen some guy make this on youtube and was interested to see what it would taste like. Will bring along an American amber which is based on Jamil's Evil twin recipe on BYO. It's tasting good but the hops are begining to fade. Hopefully it will hold till the 26th (need to keep my hands off it!).
Dara
I might have a VERY young American Amber for the meet.
Hi,
I'm new here, but I would like to come along on Friday.
I can bring a couple of bottles of an IPA kit brew.
The stock are running low after holidays consumed both beer and time to brew more!

Good man. Another eoghan but not a royal like our lordeoin!
I think I met you at the expo a few weeks ago?
Is the ipa a Coopers kit?
Another newbie here (though I used to go to a few of the ICB meetups). I would like to come to this if possible, have a pale ale to bring along?

We'll overtake the Belfast gang soon?
Is your pale ale a kit or AG or what?
Excuse my ignorance, what's icb?
Irish craft brewers? Doh!
You're more than welcome lads, bottles or not.
Thanks!
Yep, ICB is Irish Craft Brewer.
It's All Grain, recipe is on here in the brew days.

Yes, we met at the expo while you were demonstrating a kit.
It was an excellent day all round.
The IPA that I have is a Munton's Gold 3 kg kit.
I followed the instructions to the letter, no hacks. It is my second ever batch.
I'm just adding Eoghan and donnchadhc to the list.
1. johnrm - Tux, Dishwater Stout, MYOB Mild Kit.
2. Garry - Coopers Australian PA, Coopers Wheat with Lime

Shaping up to be a good 'un!
@BrewCity, have you a few more bodies in tow?
I'll be around. Not sure if I will bring anything yet, as I don't have much special at the moment, and intend on supping as much KPA as I can!
I'm booked into Sheilas. EUR16 for a bed.

Thanks Gary. Recipe to my Pale Ale is here (http://nationalhomebrewclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,71.0.html). I have an Oatmeal Stout (http://nationalhomebrewclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,2385.0.html) as well, I won't bring it as it is only in 1 litre bottles, don't want to be taking the proverbial.
What time is kick off usually?
I will be giving out free Kinsale Pale Ale tasters from 7:30 pm (ish)

I wouldn't worry about the 1 litre bottles, as that is what a lot of us use.
Only worry about getting the empties back at the end!

She charges all of us more than that. But she's great quality and does group rates...
Great night, and that's not in relation to Will D's wife! Plenty of tasting and more than a few samples of Sams KPA, plus unfilteted version.

Of course! Sorry for showing up sooooooo late, but we had a birthday bbq, and I had to drag the other half away, "We can't miss our brew meetup!" Was nice to see everyone and meet a few new faces. I only brought in "Punch", which will probably be a running thing for me as I want to keep refining that recipe until I'm happy with it. Justin drank all his "Celebration" beer, so he came empty-handed. For shame! :o
@Brewcity, Justin was liking for malt, It's out worth doing a mini group buy?
If so, start a thread to test interest. I'll tie in with you guys for payment, collection and distribution.
Great night lads. Today was a write-off though!
Surprisingly, I wasn't too bad today. Surprised that some folks liked the nettlebrau :-\
What's all this about an Elephant appearing in the Well though??? /runaway
I thought the nettlebrau was interesting.
Did Mr_happy try it? Remarkably sourish.
Yeah, I tried it and I thought it was very good - there were a lot of tasty beers on offer to be fair, and a great turn out as well.
Great night lads. I thought Sam's RIS was class. A lot of oohs and aaass going on when it was being passed around. There were quiet a few of us guilty of comments like the ones from these boys (the good comments).

at 3 minutes 'Woah... this beer is definitely infected! :-[ Unless it's a lambic. In that case this beers is awesome! :D'
lol
Great find Dara.
2:00; "Is this contract brewed? I can smell the contract!"
To be honest can't take credit for the find. Saw it on the Beoir forum. The other night did remind me of it though. It was commented to me, and I had noticed it when I arrived, that to any outsider it looks very odd in a pub to see a group of people holding their glass to the light, swirling them, sniffing them, ooohing and aahhing... People must have been wondering what we were on ;).
Dara
I spotted 7 NHC members in there, great vid :)
Great night lads, thanks for all the KPA drinking aswell, we cleared all the kegs out well before closing time..
"smashed in the face by a Christmas tree with mango's in it" :)
good inspiration for IPA recipe formulation.....
Ahh, shit. All hungover, I forgot to pick up that Eco-Keg in the morning. THink they'll still have one sitting around on Thursday?
