Right folks, the B&C has a couple of Eco Kegs lying around now that are non-returnable and are going to be chucked into the recycling. For those that don't know, Eco Kegs are lightweight plastic kegs that contain a PET bottle inside. They're intended to be filled at the brewery, shipped abroad and then recycled after use. From what I can tell from looking at it/online discussion, you could reuse these to serve beer and you could probably ferment in them as well, with the right valves and tubes attached. If anyone wants one to try out let me know, we will have about 7 of them over the next week or so. Few pics + links below.

Is the keg going with them? If so I'm in!
Keg and all. The photo of the bottle is just showing you what is inside.
I'll take some!
What connector do they use?
Ill put my name down for one for research reasons. See what can be done with it.
I'd love one if any are making their way down to Cork on the NHC express.
I'll take one too if there's any left please.
We are using these aswell at the moment, there will be a few coming out of the Franciscan Well After the Kinsale Pale Ale Cork launch on the 26th, can get the lads to hang onto them if Cork people are looking for them..
I'll have a play.

I'd like to play around with one, Sam, if you can hang on to one for me!
Is this what all the american brewers are using to send their beers over the Atlantic?
I always wondered what the logistics were for sending beers far distances
So the more Kinsale Ale we horse back on the 26th, the more kegs we can can play with.
Jaysus Sam, you're cute! ;)

I think Rogue use them but Sierra Nevada still use returnable ones, although they are made from hard plastic.

That would be great if there are any going. I can collect from the Well on the 27th. :)

Let's try empty at least three on the night, then the rebel brewers club members can take some away there and then.
If they can be re-used maybe we could fill one with the barrel stout project for the Christmas Party.
Have you got a spec sheet for these Sam?

Uses a "G" type coupler.

Yep, beat me to it!
3 of these ready to go at the B&C.
Are these the same as what Brewdog send their beers over in ? Little clear plastic kegs ?
Those are Key Kegs, similar idea.
Can I have one if there is enough?
Driving in to the B&C tonight from Shankill - if anyone on the southside is gettting one of these from irish_goat I can pick it up and drop it to you.
I will take one as well.
I'm pulling out. No space for these. Shed is getting full! :(
Got one of these today and pulled it apart, posted on this thread.http://nationalhomebrewclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,3130.0.html
I have 1 more Eco Keg ready to go and will also have another PET bottle, this time from Westons cider (it uses the Guinness/Heineken type coupler). The PET bottle is in a flimsy cardboard box so would need something sturdier to hold it if you wanted to use it.
First come first serve today. If no one claims it I'll try and take them down to TOG since I'm finishing up this weekend.
Someone can have the one I put my name down for. Enough on the go at the moment.
