I was wondering if anyone had a soda stream - CO2 regulator adapter that they wanted to sell?
Something like this one here (http://www.us-aquaristikshop.com/winkelanschluss-fuer-co2-sprudlerflasche-ausgang-w-218x1/14.html) which is circled in red below:

Nope but i do use sodastream bottles in my setup. I use a regulator that i got from candirect that fits them.
I had considered getting a dedicated regulator but felt it would allow greater flexibility in future if I got a normal regulator in case I decide to get a larger gas bottle.
Out of interest what sort of life to you get out of a bottle in terms of how many kegs it would carbonate/dispense?
Would a soda stream bottle be able to withstand the same pressure levels as the 8kg tank?

CO2 is stored as a liquid. This means that the pressure will be the same no matter what amount of CO2 is being stored.
Where'd you get the adapter shiny?
Tube, I'd be interested in hearing if you manage to fill the sodastream bottles. What other adapters do you need and where would you get them?

Got it here (http://www.co2supermarket.co.uk/) in the end.
As long as i dont have any leaks i tend to get a couple of kegs out of them but i havent really been counting to be honest.
Is the purpose of this...
...to make your keg system more portable for parties etc.?
...to refill for Soda Stream use?
...to have a reserve for when your main cylinder runs out?
I live in a tiny apartment and with current accommodation shortages in Dublin, if I am forced to move it is likely to be even smaller the next time. I'm being forced to pay twice the price, for something that is half the size, to save space unfortunately. Given our previous conversations on cooling, a second use for that electric cooler box has crossed my mind for these kegs. ;)
I hear ya. Great idea though, refilling SS cylinders.
They've got this amazing new thing now they call public transport! Basically means you can live in a bigger house further away instead of a box in the city. :P. From someone who lives north of Newry and works in Donnybrook!
I used to do that.
Then I moved and saved EUR200 a month.
EDIT:Clarification
Commuted 150km round trip for 18 months. 2 hrs driving.
Moved, Diesel bill was EUR300/month
Moved again, Diesel Bill is currently EUR100/month

I like being able to walk home and not pay €25 for a taxi 3 or 4 times a month. I would love a shed though. :(
So this is classed as beer porn for you then?...

@MT, how often are you trucking that distance?
Something along the lines of this:
With room for fermentation chambers, brewing, tools etc...
Kegs, Reg and disconnects just arrived in work. Only need line and taps now! :)

Shiny, did you get that regulator from MyBeerAndWine?
Got the whole lot from them. Laziness was a factor. :)
John_C also has a similar setup and was talking about doing a write up about it. We might get together and do something along the lines of a micro-kegerator.
I want to know how you got all that Shiney stuff funded by DIT ;)
I wish!

A man after me own heart!
And the keg? Is that the smaller size one?
How long do you think you'll get out of the SodaStream bottle?
I see where you are going with the small 12v cooler now.
Clever.
You will need to chill your keg in a regular fridge first though.
Yeah its the 9.5L size. From what I have been reading online a SS bottle can carbonate and dispense 2 to 3 kegs depending on how careful you are with the gas. If you prime the keg then you can get 5 or 6 out of it apparently and those numbers are for 19L corny kegs so I expect to get double that. Given that a refill (http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/8424956/Trail/searchtext%3ESODA+STREAM.htm) is around €12.50 its not too bad IMO. I would probably get away with around 2 or 3 refills a year which is fine for the amount of space I am saving.
Now that I see the keg I don't think it will fit in the cooler, its pretty chubby compared to the sleek and slim conventional corny. Something like this seems sensible if I can find the right cooler:

Great solution where space is a premium.
Keep a Pint glass in there too.
If you get thirsty on the way to a party while on the bus, picture the faces of the travelling public as you pull yourself a cold one!
The junkies would love it!
