Anyone know where I can get my hands on a tube of this stuff.

@Cahalbrua, you only need enough paste to ensure your temp probe makes good contract with the well. You could fill the balance with cotton wool, then maybe plug it with silicon Support Our Sponsors - Go Nuts with Sugru!.

Any type of cooking oil will give as good if not better thermal conductivity as thermal gel. Thermal gel is really used for heat sinks on cpu and psu's. I have installed a number of probes in various industrial applications and generally fill the well with cooking oil. Also the oil will be food grade so if it does happen to get into the beer not a ruined batch.

Once the TW is sealed there should is no issue.
Cooking oil leaking in is not going to be good for your current brew but is going to require detergents to clear before and subsequent brew.

Thanks for that everyone. think I might try cooking oil, if its used in industry its good enough for me.
