Title: Garden Shed
Post by: ColmR on July 04, 2013, 10:58:34 AM
Hi all, any recommendations of where to get a garden shed from?

The hobby is starting to get out of control and I definitely need to upgrade (need space for storage, fridge etc.). I want to bring electricity out there and would probably prefer to move away from a wooden shed.

The genius thing is that I've suggested moving the washing machine out there as well which will free up space in the kitchen. So everyone wins.

Any ideas?

I'd be interested to see people's answers to this too  :) Are the Evershed style sheds any use? Can they be easily plumbed and wired?

I have a garden shed, wooden type that is 2.4 M x 3.6 M. I used 2x1 rough timber and some 6mm plywood to section off the back of the shed giving me 2.4 M x 1.8 M and declared to all in the family that this MINE. the rest is for the garden stuff. A man needs a shed of his own. :)

I like the look of this one, double doors to fit big equipment and leave them open for brew days.

What about the type of shed? Anyone any suggestions as to what type of construction would be best? Obviously want to make sure that the shed is as robust as possible for electricity etc. and nicely protected and insulated from vermin (Mice get in and out of my normal wooden garden shed at the moment).

Would I be daft to go for a bricked shed? I'm thinking it would look nice, but I would more than likely lose floor space.

Cheers...

Brick is best, ask the 3 little pigs :). If you have the space you can build it with a concrete floor that has built in drains so you can splash about with washing water and such.
