I'll hold off on them until you receive yours actually. The sellers other items are very good value indeed. Dammit I'll end up ordering everything now!! Ball valves, elbows, tees, the lot. If what you bought proves to be satisfactory. Let me know anyways how you get on. This whole inside/outside diameter pipe vs tube thing is a bit of a melt, can anyone give me the pipefitting for dummies rundown please??
Will do. Just be sure you pick either bsp or npt. Under pressure the two won't work together.
Hmmmn just when things were making sense I come across a regulation called A3 which is for the food industry and amongst other things states that there must be no threads in contact with whatever liquid is passing through the pipe and to use therefore tri clover fittings as npt/bsp are not acceptable. Now obviously I can put whatever I want on a homebrew rig but I am trying to get my head round how pipes and fittings would be married to comply with this A3 standard. Welding perhaps?

You still need to put the fittings together. The Threads don't touch the liquid (fur the most part!).
For full compliance all the tri-clover fittings are welded to the tank or whatever.
To connect two tank together with a pump in the middle you use custon designed lengths of ss pipe with bends as required and they are all then clamped together.
For wash down flexible tubing/hoses may be used as they are also fitted with tri-clover ends.
At least that is what I see on my brewery tours.
Relax about the 3A rule. This is really if you are building a commercial set up. Go with the threaded ones.
Cheers lads. I fully intend to do just that. I'm sure the 3A is for good reasons of sanitation etc. So was just wondering how it all connected together. Welding seems to be the answer.
