Hi,
Im due to start my own build in the next week or so but would love so see some of the other kegerator that are out there!
Good bodge!, is that a yeast salvage in the jar?
Taps look class too!
Not far from the where having a jar comes from?
Tube is the bottom of your fridge flat?? Where is the compressor?? Bottom of my fringe only has space for 1 keg and 2kG gas bottle due to compressor!!! It has a glass shelf but not sure how much pressure that would take??
Ah I see. Thats my problem as an engineer I started to over complicate and try to work out load baring capacity of glass...... Should have had a few beers and said hump it throw them in!!!!! Time to leave work to re-arrange the fridge me things ;D
Here are a few pics of my kegerator setup.
Picked up the frigde second hand for £20. It's a Hotpoint Iced Diamond. Was a bit battered and scraped, so I gave it a respray to tart it up a bit.
Removed the shelves from the door, screws are behind the seals. I cut round the edge of the shelves to get the part that screws on to the door as it keeps the seals in place.
Then used a hole cutter for the taps, which I got from Barry in MyBeerAndWine.
It holds two kegs nicely, with the gas tank on the rear shelf, above the compressor. I had to move the temp controller to the back, easily done as it screws off.
I used John Guest fittings for the gas line, with a t to split the line and two taps to allow shutting off supply to one keg for force carbing or whatever.
No need for a change of temp controller as it serves at 8C when set to the lowest (warmest) setting on the fridges own controller.
Added the drip tray with a couple of cheap B&Q shelf brackets and some stick on velcro so it's easily removed for cleaning.
Been running nicely now for the past 6 months no probs, but I'll probably upgrade to something that can hold more kegs next year. Currently serving a Galaxy pale ale and Pumpkin Ale 8-)
Got the fridge for free, it is a bit rough but as its in my shed no issue, the black plugs on end of taps are to keep out bugs and prevents drips etc
(http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/jj605/joctcl/IMG_1095.jpg)
drip tray coming from sis who lives in US

3 connies and gas tank squish into fridge, I could do 4 if I put my gas outside.
I have a timber shelf above the compressor made out of mdf, there is a gap at the front to allow air to circulate. Icecream tub conntains liquid yeasts in vials. some wlp 830 there at the back. and a selection of brews
If I was doing it again I would have taken the size of my tallest bottle and built the shelf that height, that would of given me more room when switching lines above.

Jesus Blunt, thats "Sleeping with the Enemy" all the bottle labels turned out, polished cornies, little yeast vials lined up in cubbies, I bet you have them in expiration date order :)
I am pulling your leg and wildly Jealous best I have seen by a country mile, my missus would never allow me have that in the kitchen :(
Ooh, shiney. i like it.
That's a clever layout, gives me idea's too,how did you get the wife to agree, actually,as I write,I think I know how it would work with my wife,as long as it does not look gaudy and fits in with the rest of the room, thanks. [smiley=thumbup.gif]
Hi Lads,
Finally got my gear together, im delighted how it turned out, thanks to Ciderhead and everone who helped me navigate the task. silmple things like puting the tubing in hot water to get them to fit the fitting really helped.

would you squeeze a third one in the middle at the back and push you tank to one side?
I dont leave my fire extinguisher permanently close - after its carbed to my liking i just give a squeeze whenever it needs it for dispensing - just in case Ive a leak somewhere and i lose a cylinder of gas.

Thats what I normally do, but I left it connected overnight over the weekend, and guess what.......new cylinder half empty >:(
Oh and nice work Covey ;)
Covey you were asking me about pressures, temps for your various styles, this table will be a good guide.
http://braukaiser.com/documents/CO2_content_metric.pdf
Do use your own judgement and taste :)
Here's my kegerator. I got the fridge for €50 on adverts thanks to a heads-up on Beoir.
Brand is Hotpoint and I was able to peel off the Hotpoint stickers and rearrange to spell "Pint" and relocate to the top right corner. I took pics during the build if anyone wants to see how easy it was to do ;)
At the min setting it keeps the temp at 8C which suits me fine so I didn't bother messing with the temp controller.
I splashed out on a kegerator kit and drip tray from Keg Connection (http://kegconnection.com). It was a little pricey but ultimately worth it.
A hole saw was used to drill holes for the taps. I used a bit of spare skirting board (spray painted black) to act as a reinforcing board inside the door as the plastic door liner was a little too flexible for my liking.
The fridge is a nice size and just takes 3 kegs along with my fire extinguisher CO2 cylinder while still leaving shelf space for bottled beers and what not.
A 2-stage regulator and manifold allows me to have two different pressures - one outlet supplies two kegs through the manifold and the other goes directly to a keg.
Taps are Perlick 575 SS with Creamer function and they work beautifully!

Sure! They're handy enough to do. I have a hole saw and drill you can use when you're ready to rock. I'll talk to you about it when I see you tomorrow.
I just started reading this thread again and already i am getting dangerous ideas ;D :o ::)

I'd call it a consideration rather than a risk. These days you can be fairly certain that the customs will take their pound of flesh. Factor that into your costs and decide if you want to go ahead. There are advantages to buying from the US: better variety being the main one e.g. I haven't managed to find long shanks for the same value this side of the Atlantic and good taps are hard to come by. Then again, I'm picky! :)
ye i think im just lookin for all the basics first off such as cornies, connectors regulators, faucets etc, I will probably go with a guy that is on adverts who sells the majority of things you would need to start kegging.

Alex is on here somewhere as well and is pretty solid
Here's my kegerator pics, would like to get more kegs in there but not much room.
Have another fridge on the way so might be able to clear some clutter!
2 perlick faucets, 1 standard and 1 creamer. CO2 tank on the outside.

Another awesome Keggerator!
Right Ive now got everything for mine except taps. Where can I buy perlick taps this side of the Atlantic?
Ive been working on this baby for a while now (2+ years) , fridge 50€ on adverts , using a digital thermometer in a jar of water to monitor temp and the fridge's thermostat keeps ±1°C
Can hold my 4 kegs with the gas still in the fridge , reinforced acrylic base (original glass was too weak)
Acrylic shelf with taps mounted on it so I didnt have to drill the door
Guinness tap (restrictor plate removed) perfectly balanced with a meter of hose (4mm) , its actually perfect for bottling from
Mybeerandwine.ie tap with compensator is perfect even with 1m of 7mm hose pours a little slow but perfect head
Running 2 basic kit right now , didnt want to waste the good stuff in the hose balancing ;D
5 or 1 micro filter if i ever need to rush a batch
Buffalo boiler on the left (BIAB) and my first yeast test harvest
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/309949_4285248934998_454339494_n.jpg)
Like the acrylic, I used timber myself with legs for the base
Like the taps can you post some better pics of the back and how they are fixed to shelf?
What's with the woolly jumper on the gas :)
The woolly jumper is the plastic mesh that was on it when it came just havent taken it off .

Pre drilled the shelf and block with a 4mm bit and used 5x50 stainless steal deck screws that i had
I knew about the woolly jumper I was pulling your leg.
I really like the idea of taps inside the fridge thanks for the pics, is that 15-20MM?
Its 10mm , salvaged it from a bedroom renovation , a pain in the hole to cut with a jig saw and using the hole saw bits of acrylic got everywhere
They are 5/16 to 5/16 so its 7.9mm still fits

QuoteWho is Paul ?
Paul is the ebay seller above with JG fittings
btw Will has a great great idea for cleaning pipes, I did one and it works really well.
Woodies sell a cheap 2 litre spray bottle for garden chemicals or water sprays
The unit comes with a pushed in brass spray nozzle. Remove this ( pair of pliers ) and then a standard 3/8" beer line is a tight push fit in.
You may need to improve the seal by wrapping the thread with ptfe tape.
Then fill with 2 litres of you favourite line cleaner and connect up to your beer line. Pump it up then flush the cleaner through and wait. Refill with clean water and flush through a few times with clean water.
Here is a picture. Much cheaper than having a dedicated Sankey type cleaning yoke. Also works a treat on Cornie systems.
I notice that everyone takes the door shelves out for more room.
I bought a brewfridge before christmas (€20 off gumtree) and it ended up being better that the kitchen fridge but it had no door shelves.
I'm hoping that there's a giant stash of door shelves around that I can plunder.
Anyone within 30 miles of Mallow that might have what i'm looking for?
Might as well stick up mine, its a little different to what most people do...
Its a converted larder fridge with a two tap beer tower. Got a cheap larder fridge off adverts (which was a bit small)... so I removed the door and cut out any unnecessary shit, built a larger frame, insulated very well and re attached door (bigger fridge!!). Added worktop, beer tower and taps. Rails also to stop glasses falling off the back! Holds 2 kegs and a 6 kg tank OR 3 kegs.

It's amazing that we almost all have the same taps and kegs and nobody connects them up the same way!!
Hi guys, finely got some pics of my fridge. Good to have section like it. This may give some help and inspiration to those who are ahead of building their own kegerator.
Sorry for rubbish resize on the pics.. in a hurry.
Lovely neat installation there.
Great Job
Thanks, I'm hoping do get something like slayerking has. Only need to convince my better half to keep it in the house (not an easy one) Where do you keep your fridge Will?
Mine are in the "garage/workshop/cellar/multifunctional, stuffed to the gills with STUFF place" attatched to the house!!
But the misses loves my beers and wines so if I ever did a posh one she'd have no problems with it in the house!
I done something similar to SlayerKing by putting the taps on top. Larder under counter fridges are a bit tight for space , i barely can fit 2 kegs due to the compressor at the back (which is a pity as i have 3 taps !) .
@Slayerking I like what ye have done to extend it out . I dont have the confidence in my build skills to attempt it , although it would be nice to fit 3- 4 kegs at the same time, ie 3 serving and another conditioning (not bothered about the gas , currently i have the pipe coming in the back of the unit . Did it cost much extra for materials and build ?
Blunt, that looks awesome!
I need a drip tray for mine. The floor is not working out so well.

Mine is boring but functional. That's an old pic from when I made it. It's now covered in stickers.
My kegerator setup arrived last week after months of waiting due to lost parcels, claims with UPS etc but Keg Connection came through in the end & Im delighted with the set-up. Worth the wait!

This is the same set-up as St.Fursey. Perlick SS creamer faucets, dual regulator etc. Black board paint on the fridge. I can fit 3 cornies in there & my gas tank.
^^^^
That looks the business! Very jealous.
Looking good Hop Bomb. I just finished mine yesterday and should be kegging by the weekend. I'd fit another keg no problem or another two if I moved the gas outside.
Nice job & great fridge for it. I was looking for a tall fridge around Galway/Clare/Tipp since Jan & nothing came up.
I got a tall fridge freezer in the end. Room for 3 kegs + gas but nothing else. Freezer is great for hops though.
Just in the middle of given the beast a new coat of paint, will put up pics when finished. Def worth investing in
Wow, everyone's got flow-control taps! (Jealous!)
Some day I'll upgrade to Perlick taps because I'm sick of mine sticking but flow control perlick is definitely out of the budget; I'll just have to balance the system via line length.
Adam
these systems are unreal, fair play to everyone who built one, could anyone give me a ball park figure for something like this, say a one keg system to start but with the option of expanding. id be starting from scratch with no kegging equipment wat so ever, and how hard is it to come by all the pieces needed?
thats pretty good i thought it would of exceeded 300 easy thats well within reach

Edge's ecconomics:
Refill: Any size bottle €10
New Red FeX with proper valve, no dip tube: €40
Fit New valve/remove DT/ Convert your Fex and fill: €40
Its a fairly simple model!
@CH: Please correct this if I am wrong!
Mr D correct as usual
They have loads of tanks, it's the new screw valve that costs 30 and the fill is 10.
Cheers guys. Just about out of gas. Had planned on getting over during the week but didn't get around to it. Day off next week is last chance for me before Christmas.
Sorry Tube but shiny 5kg red tank with new batch of valves are 40 now not 35 and is the reason we can get refills for only a tenner, v's 15 and 20 for the same volume elsewhere
I know you were getting a good deal for the older grey gas bottles with older valves but not sure how many they still have?

Sorry for posting to an old thread but I don't think there's much point in starting a new one. I was just re-reading this thread and there's some great pics posted. But surely there's a few new ones out there?? I'm toying with the idea of a new keezer and looking for some inspiration. 8) 8)
If it wasn't for the drain on the back wall that's offset by 2 cm I might be able to squeeze in 4 Coca-Cola kegs (with the CO2 tank outside). Had I Pepsi kegs - taller and thinner I'd fit them alright.
So far 2 kegs, CO2 tank and a few bottles.
Fridge thermostat set at 3.5/5 keeps the inside at the constant 2 deg C.
5/5 sets the temperature back to 0 deg C.
Looking good, I really like the chalk paint look. Anyway you can remove the little drain thats in your way?
The chalk paint is actually the self-adhesive chalk foil:
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Blackboard-Foil-3m-Roll-Black-Self-Adhesive-Decoration-Wall-cup-label-Chalk-x5-/361121231173?pt=UK_Crafts_Embellishments_SM&hash=item541480b145
1/3 of the back wall is moved 2cm forward and the drain is embossed in it.
If I was to remove it any water coming of the freezing part of the back wall would drip inside the fridge compartment which doesn't sound like a good idea.
I've initially went for two taps only and adding the extra one would disturb the even layout I have now :)
Looks good Bart, was going to suggest raising the kegs above the drain but sounds like it takes up a lot of the back wall.
I'm having a similar dilemma about adding another keg or two. If I moved my gas outside I'm sure I could fit at least one in, but I'm afraid of putting a hole in the side in case I perforate something I shouldn't. Anyone know how I can tell if it's safe to do this?
you can get around that by adding a half shelf and standing the co2 on it. You can use the bottom for some storage and get 2 possible 3 kegs in depending on your reg size. I'll send on a pic of mine in a bit.
My setup. 2 taps on the go at the moment but can get 3 going.

The shelf at the back over the uneven step is now home for co2. Was just too unsteady without. Was grand when keg in front was full but as i emptied i wasnt happy with the bottle leaning on. Can turn it and get a 3rd keg in at a squeeze.
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s180/nigerford/beerstuff/84C38529-50D9-4EFF-AD5F-D88B1FF4EA0C_zpsr8fag7db.jpg
I was actually thinking of running co2 to outside and having a cask "off the shelf" keg with gas line with just enough co2 on it to keep it moving. Bit of natural carbonation to keep the real ale folks a bit happy.

This is my work in progress hence the kegs holding the lid down while the adhesive cures. Just put on the collar today. Its slightly wonky but I'm happy enough with it, I'm just hoping it sticks to the freezer now. It should be cured tomorrow so I'll hopefully have the temp controller ready to go to get her fired up. I can't quite afford taps yet so I'm sticking with picnic taps. It can comfortably take 4 and at a push 5 kegs but I'll be sticking with 3 on rotation for the moment until I get a few more dolla billz together. Will post up a pic when its fully finished and operating.
This is my bar top with a chest freezer underneath

Is the bar attached to the freezer lid or do you slide the freezer out to open it?
Those gas boards from Normanumpa are really the dogs! Mine was only £60 (a few years ago)
Just slide it out.. It's on coasters.. Got the board from Norman around 4 years ago.. Great purchase
Here's my mostly finished keezer. I've since added a fan for circulation. Still to come is insulation, chalkboard paint, taps and outside collar
Looking good Vermelho, keep us updated with your progress.
Are you guys using long beer lines to your taps? I was reading a recommendation of 1ft per psi for dispensing. Is that necessary?

I think I have about 3 foot on each of mine. They just came like that coz I bought them when I didn't really know about kegging. I think there is a formula for it though.
Something a bit different, gutted office watercooler to mount taps on. Kegs sit under the (outside, non-insulated) stairs and are at a lovely low cellar temp during the winter.
Still have the innards, might figure out if I can use them to cool the lines in the summer.

Got myself a fridge on donedeal for €45. Delighted with the space in it, might have to get an extra keg and tap :)

Went to grab a pint but nothing came out of the tap that was working fine xmas night. A bit of a poke around and I realised the keg was frozen solid. I had the fridge set at "4", which I assumed was degrees so I turned it to "8" for serving. Seems it was actually 4 st ing coldness and I upped it to 8 coldness which is apparently freezing. Although none of the bottles in there froze.
The beer line can freeze if it's touching the back wall of the fridge when you close the door. Warm it up in your hands for a few mins & you should be good to go. ;)
Nah it was definitely the keg. I had a look in and it's frozen. Line was ok. Keg was possibly touching the wall.
Unlucky so, hope you have another to keep you going til that one defrosts. I remember when I got mine first and the keg stopped the door from closing. It was open all night and I thought I broke it. Nearly started crying lol.
Haven't got another keg filled unfortunately. I did get some nice beer as xmas presents though so its not all bad. A Brooklyn Local 2 is helping keep my spirits up. O0
Sorry for dragging up an old thread but I wanted to thank you lads for sharing your pics and giving me ideas for my own Kegerator setup. I've just made the move from bottling to kegging. My kitchen had a deginated two door cupboard for a fridge freezer however my beko fridge was too wide for this cupboard. It has been housing the mop, vacuum cleaner and other cleaning products for the last few years so I bought a second hand undercounter fridge from adverts for the bottom half and I installed shelving in the top half. I can only fit one keg in the fridge due to its limited width so it will fit in the cupboard. Love having chilled beer on tap. Only problem is the lads keep calling to "sample" it! I better get brewing and restock!
Hi and Welcome to the NHC!
Thats a neat solution.
If you remove the white plastic door moulding you may find two cornies will fit.
You can then have the CO2 bottle outside of the fridge.
Thanks. Yeah I'd also need to move the internal light and temperature control dial too. I do like the fact that everything is hidden including the co2 tank. Well that's more for the missus' benefit really!
Can't believe your Missus let you drill cabinet for a tap :o
Ah I find that sending her shopping in Kildare Village, with a few bob, tends to make her forget about holes in cabinets! ;D
Be careful, I have been informed after an unannouced inspection of my boot, Gucci just opened a shop there, "this old thing I've had that for years" :D
Here's mine, fresh off the build :D Got a larder fridge as a present for Chistmas. It can fit 8 kegs if you push it - I have 5 in there right now- might move the co2 out and have 6. Taps are a little off center, as I'm leaving room for a stout tap on nitro in the future.
The hard beer line is a pain as it can keep the door open - probably need to get shorter shanks and some 90 Degree JG fittings.
Drip tray on the wish list?
Yeah ordering from aliexpress tomorrow :)
Currently my drip tray is a towel on the floor.
My Keezer, including festive pictures my kids added :)
Very nice job
Here's mine, it sure isn't pretty but it does the job and was worth every penny :)

Nice! Where did you pick up the JGs that screw onto the back of the shank?
Also did you need to reinforce the shelves or brackets in the fridge with all that weight?

I made shelves from 1/2" plywood and used the existing plastic brackets that are there. Shelves are quite strong, though might be an idea to make some legs for them...
