Hey there
Anyone ever have yeast clumping before. I made an american ale at the weekend using US05 yeast at the normal rate.. The next day there were big clumps about 2 - 3cm floating on the top of the beer.
They have since broken up and now instead of a fine dusting of yeast on the bottom there are small lumps a couple of mm wide.
The beer seems to be fermenting fine, just wondering if anyone else had seen this and knows what causes it.

Possibly caused by a slight overdose on kettle finings, don't worry about it. If you overdose massively you see huge clumps floating about and lose quite a bit of beer.
Strange, I always use the same amount i.e. one Whirflock tablet, is this too much??
I have heard of this before now that you mention it.
