Title: Crystal Malt
Post by: MisterBurns on July 12, 2013, 12:03:48 AM
Ok so I saw an extract brew recipe that I liked and ordered it all. The Crystal Malt is full grains - do I need to crush this before I steep it??????

Firstly, crystal malt won't have any enzymes, so no mash is required.
To get the most from them crushing is best.
By the sound of it you ordered the individual ingredients and got whole instead of milled.
Just get someone to mill the lot for you, pop the remaining amount into a Ziploc.

I see from previous posts you are in Galway.
Pop into Brian in Liosban Ind. Est. and swap it for milled.
(You did buy from Brian, didn't you)
