Title: Good yeast for Porter?
Post by: Dunkel on July 13, 2013, 09:08:52 PM
As my next batch will be a simple Porter, just wondering which would be the best yeast to use. Danstar Windsor, Danstar Nottingham or Safale S-04 ? Or any other suggestions?

I used Windsor with good results, finished high at 1020 which I think is typical of this yeast.

Nottingham. Windsor does not finish low and leaves alot of gravity behind.

Sort of what I was saying, so different flavors from different yeasts.

Wlp002, Wlp007 are good options.

Irish ale too.
