Title: Howye lads!
Post by: Jon.Martin on July 22, 2013, 01:53:14 PM
Hi to all. I'm quite new to homebrewing having discovered the local home brew shop in Liosban. I have been brewing from kits only so far bar one ongoing experiment with spray malt and torrified grains. As far as the kits go I have been changing around the malts and experimenting with hops in their various forms. I really love a sharp aromatic hop and want to learn how to capture that for my own beers. I'm looking forward all the info Im surely going to pick up here. Cheers

Primary at the moment: Brewferm Belgian Christmas ale, Coopers Cerveza, Bulldog brew Hammer of Thor,
Secondary: Coopers lager amber malted.

Hi Jon! Welcome! The galway section is probably the best place for you too look to see what's on in your local area but there are some expert Kit hackers out there so that forum would also be worth a visit!

Don't be shy, ask loads of questions, you'll learn quicker that way!

I think for hops you'll need to go to the homebrewing company (If you're a member here you get a 5% discount) and depending on what you are looking for in sharp aromatic's there are various hops out there! (e.g. the aroma from Sierra Nevada Pale Ale comes from Cascade, where the aroma from an english IPA is normally something like Goldings.)

Thanks very much Padraic.  I appreciate the info. Do the home brew company have a better selection than other suppliers? Haven't tried either of those hops yet but will give them a go.
