Title: Craft Beer Shops In Cork ?
Post by: Greg2013 on July 24, 2013, 10:26:09 PM
Scuse me for butting in, thinking of taking a trip to my old stomping ground tomorrow and was wondering is there anywhere within reasonable walking distance of bus stop on Popes quay that sells craft beer, particularily UK beer ? And i don't mean a pub btw  ???

Bradleys on North Main street is the place to go for the English beers in my opinion - they have a great selection of everything else too - Abbots Ale House is another great craft beer off-licence specializing in Belgian beers.

Don't forget the Bieraus!! And the Porterhouse (although I'm not mad about it). Turn the trip into a crawl deadman  ;D

If your dropped on popes key you can't go to far wrong. Walk one way along the river you'll come to the bierhaus <300m. Go the other way along the river you'll come to the well <300m. Cross the bridge you'll come to Bradleys (on right had side) less than <300m. Go up hill - turn back.  If you follow directions while sober you probably have a 75% chance of getting this right. If drunk, you won't try the hill so that increases the probability of success to close to 100% ;).

Bradley's is an offie - great selection on north main street. Abbot ale house is a offie downstairs pub upstairs. It's further down the river from the Bierhaus and a bit to the left. You'll need to stop at the bierhaus for a refreshment + some directions. Youre talking at least 500m for that one!

These are a couple of quick snaps of two of the places i visited today, both of which were shut, apparently the pubs in that area of Cork don't open until 4 or 5 at least. Peter down in the Well (its ok he got out) was very helpful and friendly to this strange fella walking in off the street, gave me a map and marked out all the places on my list, bloody Bierhaus was not where it was supposed to be and that also was shut at the time.  Never made it to Abbots wherever it was anyway, had to  catch the bus back, oh well at least i know where most of the spots are for the next time, pity i did not know about the do tomorrow or i would have held off.

I did manage to get to Bradley's, though i wish i had not as i was like a child in a skittles factory ::) Michael(i think) was very helpful when i told him i was a NHC member/ beginner, also found out off him that they deliver, not good news ::)

I know what you mean about Bradleys - they must think I'm a weirdo when I go in, spend 15 mins looking around, then buy 1 beer

Its a tough one.
Mad for beer and no-one selling!
Next time in Cork, tie it in with a meet up in the Well and bring a few beers.
Sheila will serve(ice) you well for EUR16
