Title: Handy for moving stuff around Dublin?
Post by: admin on August 01, 2013, 08:24:26 PM
Just launched today. If I didn't have a car already I'd jump on this. Van rental too.

Very impressive - especially with the high cost of Tax / Fuel / Insurance

The only downside is the go-car bases - you'd want to be living near.

We only have one car (everyone seems to have two these days)

so with something like this - we don't need to get a second car.

Excellent !

Hmmm ...

Let's do a cost simulation:

Subject: Van rental for 24h

Gocar - 50e (+ 0.45e per 1km)
Hertz - 75e (250 km included)

Gocar cost for 250km -> 50e + (250*0.45) = 50e + 112.5e = 162.5e
Gocar cost for 100km -> 50e + (100*0.45) = 50e + 45e = 95e

Still Hertz looks better, and probably you can hire van even cheaper.
Unless I'm missing something special about Gocar.

I think it's a deadly idea myself, I saw it when I was over in Germany recently, was very impressed. It's like city bikes but for cars.

I did say handy for moving stuff around Dublin.

Assuming you have an account already: Move whiskey barrel from city centre (Padraic's) to Drumcondra (CARA's), 4km... €1.80+€4.99=€6.79. If you don't have an account €56.79 but only the first time.
Ok, if you're talking about CC and distances up to 10km it's fine :P
