Title: BeerXML Recipe Standard
Post by: admin on November 22, 2012, 10:14:27 AM
James9, you were looking for some way of standardising beer recipes. Enter BeerXML:

http://www.beerxml.com/

Very nicely there is a Wordpress plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/beerxml-shortcode/) that can use recipes implemented in BeerXML, and even better BeerTools and BeerSmith (and probably others) can import BeerXML recipes.

BrewMate is also using that format.

Seems like a straight forward way of recording a recipe.
It would be very "recipe database friendly" if we recorded recipes this way - or came up wth a form that built an xml document following that standard based on the input.

Id love for us to have something where you could stick in what you have in your cupboard, ingredients wise, and it will throw you back a recipe from the database that matches, or the best match.

We'll get there someday.
