Title: Imperial Stout
Post by: Shane Phelan on October 28, 2012, 08:37:16 PM
This was an imperial stout I made with the intention of entering it in the Abbeyleix beerfest. Didn't get to in the end as it was to young. I would definitely make this again.

Crystal Grain is probably optional, only added it as I had it lying around.

To be honest its hard (for me) to tell. There is so much going on in this recipe that its hard to identify their taste.

I'm genuinely curious to see what they are like on their own so I'm going to use them again in my next brew which is going to be either a Mild, Pale Ale or Spice Beer (For Christmas).

QuoteWhat are those Junga hops like? I'd never heard of them till this recipe.
Lugh has a pale ale single hopped with them I believe, not tasted it. They were only realeased this year from northern brewer/marynaka parentage

They are the hop in my Belgian porter. Not a lot of hop character coming through there but they reminded me of fuggles in the packet. I will use the rest in a smash recipe to see what they are like

Yeah I made a pale ale with them a few weeks ago. I bottled it last night and the brew smelled like a pine forest.  :)

I will reserve judgement on the taste till they are in the bottles a few weeks.
