Title: New to forum and brewing
Post by: erneman on August 23, 2013, 08:08:23 PM
Hi all

New to all this, quite exciting I have to say.

Bought and brewed a Muntons Mexican Cerveza.

Brewed it on Monday and had a reading on 1042.

Bubbled away for a couple of days and nothing for 24 hours. Took a reading and it was 1012.

Is this very fast. I know it's not ready yet and will be another 2 weeks anyways, but wasn't expecting it to get to this stage already.

Hi Erneman,
Firstly, Welcome to the forum, you have come to the right place to ask all the wrong questions!
Next up, I have updated my predictive text so when I type your forum name it no longer comes up 'Enemas'.
As for the beer, that sounds a little quick, what was your pitching temp and ferment temp like?
But don't worry, it will probably be fine!

Hi

Pitched at 25c and it fermentated at 22c.

I won't be touching it for a fortnight at least, was just concerned it hadn't fermentated at all.

I've not done that kit, but it's at 3.9%, don't forget you can add .5% for carbing. A little quick, but should be fine.

generally, mexican cerveza will be best young
and generally, your first brew will be the greatest thing since sliced pan.
combined, this brew won't last long, well done and enjoy it  ;D

Good stuff and congrats! Is it a corona/desperados style of beer?
