Title: Hop & Grape 10 gallon brewery kit
Post by: Paul on September 01, 2013, 08:12:03 PM
I know a lot of home brewers in Ireland have this discontinued equipment and am wondering has anyone upgraded the taps to ball valve taps ?

This is the system that shipped with the big useless orange tap on the boiler and a water butt tap (same hole diameter as boiler tap) on the cooler box mash tun.

Boiler tap:

I bought a solar pump with screw on connectors a while back to use with this but need to upgrade the taps.  If anyone could point me in the direction of a supplier for suitable taps I would be grateful.   I've already wasted a good few quid on taps that are too small.

I am unfamiliar with the kit.
Have you a link to it?  Pics maybe?
What diameter are the existing holes? If smaller than half inch, bore then out and use standard plumbing fittings.

That looks like a 3/4 bsp thread.

If so just take it to a plumbers merchant and get a 3/4 bsp ball valve for about €8.

If not take it to a plumbers merchant and get a ball valve of a similar size!

Found one of these:

Does the lip look a bit small to grip the outside of the bucket ?
