or get it delivered to me declan n ill bring it down. if ebay includes delivery to n.ireland
Shiny had some 3l ones. They would be better as you can actually ferment a 2l starter properly.
especially boiling dme at the start gives loads of headspace
reading a lot of articles recently that 2L starters are better overall and to pitch at high Krausen
and to use only the yeast.
3 litre would be awesome, ill see if he still has some. Thanks for the offer there Matthew!
I have zero at the moment.
TT
Was there 4 or 5 litre flasks available in the last GB Shiny? Not enough head space in my 3 litre flask for 3 litre starters. It always makes a mess of my stir plate.

2L starters really come into their own if you use a roller mill to mill you grain.
fuckity fuck fuck fuck fuck off :P
I am gonna grind your grapes through that roller mill next time I see you :o

3 L starter :o, you shouldn't need those now with o2 unless you are brewing 10 Gal batches?
The largest conical in the group buy was 3L. There are 5L conical's but I don't want to be encouraging that.
Another GB perhaps ? Oh and stir bars as well please :P
Your Meth lab just went industrial :D
Rest assured stir bars are on "the list" but only one size. Will do another one in the coming months.
now he tells me I just bought a load from a Chinaman, bigger is not always best when it comes to stir bars I am finding.

Yeah Im brewing 10 gallon batches 8)
Yeah I was going for a middle of the road 35mm x 6mm stirbar which would work across the board.

If you want a big starter then just move up into a demijohn. Just don't try to use boiling wort/water in it.
If a DJ is too small use a 10 litre fermenting bucket!
A big stir bar will work its magic in one of these as well coz they have nice curved bottom

ah u may be a canditate for one of my 40 litre conicals :) ;)
Ive tried a demijohn with my stir plate. I cant get my stir bar to spin on the domed bottom. I cant use any of the larger stir bars Ive got since either without re aligning the magnets on my fan.
@ Bren - do they fit in a larder fridge?
ill see if i can get dimensions for ya.. or check tanksuk.co.uk it may be there
the starter debate could go on for years or decades :) ;) :D ;D some people swear by it and others just pitch dry yeast into well aerated wort.
maybe at the next national championships we could collect data for scientific purposes to answer these questions.
I only use dry yeast or some krausen ( yeast foam) from a previous batch. I never ventured into the yeast starter thingy yet.
Have a look at the link below, these arrived today, have some pairs going FOC for any of ye that want them, bloody strong for the size.

I'll take one off you Deadman if you don't mind :)
Going in pairs for use with stir bar but that's fine. If you are still across the road from WIt let me know by pm and we will sort it out for next week ;D
Be careful with handling them as they break really easy due to their desire to attach to anything metallic. I would advise wrapping them individually in bubble wrap.

Cheers for that Shanna good point. Will be doing that, a couple of more pairs going.
Speaking of meth labs - has anyone seen the breaking bad lego set ???
Its not made by Lego. Funny though ;D
Ah yeah - some other company - lego do not approve tis good though
