Title: Fermentor dimentions.
Post by: Frequent Sequence on September 05, 2013, 08:08:36 PM
How ye?
I'm wondering if one of you fine gents could measure the height of a 33 liter bucket.
All my buckets are bubbling in another house on the far side of town
I just got a small chest freezer, which I planned on using as a ferm chamber.
But the internal dimensions are very tight. In centimeters; H 55/W45/L 45

Alternatively does anyone know of some wider shorter fermenters that would fit.
Cheers Seán

Hi Sean,

It's gonna be tight! My 33l fermenters are 40cm high, but 54.5 or 55 cm with a bubbler airlock. You could push the airlock into the bucket maybe a further 1cm, but I can forsee problems breaking off the airlock when putting in/taking out the FV unless you've a steady hand. Maybe those three piece airlocks are shorter? Oh, and width no problem, 37cm.

I have one of those 3 piece airlock, they only protrude 3-4cm from the fermenter so they would work.

I don't like them as they're virtually silent and I find that the sound of beer bubbling away is strangely soothing and comforting...

Great stuff. Thanks lads.
My mind is at ease now. I really didn't want to fart about building a collar.
Now the hard part will be waiting for my stc100 to arrive :)

Cheers Seán.
