Lads, not beer related (booo!!) but does anyone
a) remember Iomega Zip Drives and
b) have one laying in a corner gathering dust that they done want/need?
100mb/250mb, what ever ye have.
Cheers!
Dan
so you looking for a zip drive or zip disk? (Note: i have neither :) - just the 100meg/250meg thing confused me - maybe the drives could only handle up to a certain size)
My first computer job was supporting them. I gave my 250 to my da years ago. Have you got the 'click of death'?

looking for both ideally - can get them cheap enuf on ebay as nobody using them anymore, but just asking around first in case anyone has one they dont want
no click of death - its to attach to an equally ancient piece of audio equipment from the same era - pre USB and large Hard drives etc.
I just phoned the Da, I've asked him to have a look and see if he can find the drive. There's a possibility it's about but I'd not hold out much hope.

cheers Eoin. much appreciated
JimmyM - they came in a few flavors 100mb or 250mb think up to 750 in the end? hard to imagine now but not so long ago, 100mb's was considered a lot of storage - "sure you would never fill that!" :-\
Yeah my phone has many more storage on it than a Jaz drive did, they were hoooooooooge

Was just about to mention the Jaz drive... what a piece of kit! A whole Gig... Sure you'd never need more thana couple of disks!
got one of these in the end lads, ebay, just a few quid its on its way to Parcel Motel as we speak. No power supply with it though or data cable, I'm hoping an old phone charger might do the trick. and a standard SCSI for data. will have to check that one out
click of death on this one :-( hes sending another - picked up a power supply, just need a SCSI cable now.
Have you got days on Zip disks ie are you liking to store stuff externally?
Why not use an ide drive? Maybe an external caddy?
thanks John, its an old audio device that has no storage, just files loaded into RAM, pre usb days and the only connection is the scsi one (attached) - so its a 25 pin scsi M to F that will work perfectly for me - just as soon as i find one
Have you got the make/model of the host device?
Is this a mixer/sequencer?
It might be possible to emulate a scsi device or just use a scsi HD.
