These apparently contain 7.5 litres of pre-boiled "pure liquid wort", hop pellets, yeast and even priming sugar. No malt extract or sugar needed.
Getting good reviews on Jim's Beer Kit but they only seem to be available in light/lager form. :/

WOW they really LIKE to put the occasional WORD in all CAPS, don't THEY?
Has anyone tried these kits or similar liquid wort kits?
We do like our caps lock to grab your ATTENTION, we aren't shouting been told off for that at the start on this forum LOL. Hoping its not too off putting the web designer loves it it would seem..
I can see that there isn't a great deal of info on these kits and was thinking would you guys like us to put a kit up for review. I don't know how you want to select who gets or if we are allowed to do it on here it but we can happily courier one to the lucky reviewer in return for a review?
Mods, Please advise if this is acceptable, put up with the best intentions....

The club tends to be amenable to such deals with a review and full disclosure.
Sent using a complex system of semaphore and ninjas.
If Geterbrewed is kind enough to donate one why don't you raffle it and cut down on the air miles and send it directly?
Sent from my divining rod v2.0
Start a list here with a cutoff. Draw straws for the winner.
Are these all lagers?
I'd dare say that a hell of a lot of kit brewers don't have a lagering fridge, myself included.

+1
Just start a raffle off yourself, set your own end-date and post it out direct :)
I'll start the ball rolling:
1 - LordEoin - I'd be more than happy to review it :)
Sorry for the delayed reply, I had been emailing Il Tube he has kindly agreed to organise the raffle, we are putting up a Pilsner kit for raffle.
http://www.geterbrewed.com/brewers-spring-pilsner
@@geterbrewed, what kind of yeast comes with the pilsner kit; ale or larger?
I'm gonna slap the next person I see spell it 'larger' ;D
Fair enough geterbrewed, looking forward to the raffle :)

Its peenis envy ;D
LARGER :P
I found the instructions (http://www.vinecowine.com/userdocs/4WkBrewersSpringInstructionsBIL.pdf)online and it says ferment between 18-24°C. Of course the instructions could be general?
Its a coopers yeast sachet 7g 16010
And the winner of a free surprise slap is Garry! (no raffle needed on that one)
If it's a cooper's sachet with no letters, then it's their Ac Coopers ale yeast (their own strain, not the same as the yeast in their commercial ales, developed in-house and propagated under contract).
It was made on the 9th of June 2010 and is out of date.
Unlikely that a Young's kit would come with out of date Coopers yeast.
I have emailed Youngs to get an answer about the yeast.

There's no letter after the number so that means it's a cooper's ale yeast? Does that number mean that the yeast was produced on the 9th June 2010?
I'm basing these conclusions on this tread (http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,660.0.html).
Edit: LordEoin beat me (not slapped me) to it.
yes Garry, it does.
See above, I was editing while you were replying ;D
I've forwarded an email to Young's to get you guys some more info, expiry sticker on the box states End February 2014.
It wouldn't be like them to supply anything out of date, I'll post their response tomorrow...
@geterbrewed: I've already emailed them :)
@tube: 'HUGH'?? (http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/food/ic/food_1x1_304/chefs/hugh_fearnley-whittingstall_1x1.jpg)
aww... isn't that sweet? :-*
Quote from: Il Tubo on September 23, 2013, 08:36:14 PMAs a matter of interest at least two Irish craft "largers" are not lagers at all, even though they're HUGH!
As in don't use lager yeast??
Young's are looking into it, they have said they are Canadian kits and they are checking with them to get answers, will post update when received
Spill the beans!
I'd also be happy to do the review,
1 - LordEoin - I'd be more than happy to review it :)
2 - CrsZ00
I think Tube is sorting out a raffle separately
I hope I win the cat ;D
Any pics of what's inside the box (the one with the beer kit, not the cat)?
The instructions (http://www.vinecowine.com/userdocs/4WkBrewersSpringInstructionsBIL.pdf) say something about adding bentonite, anyone know what that's for?
Sure brew it and review it while you're at it ;D
We'll all call to your door in a month for a violent piss up constructive tasting session

The bentonite, a type of clay, would be used as a fining agent. Isinglass is more common for beer, with bentonite for wine, but it will still do the job. And it makes the beer suitable for vegans ;)
what's the code on that yeast packet?
Ahh ok, I was just wondering if it was the same packet :)
Young's have emailed back stating;
'Sorry for the late reply, I have been out of office all week.
The number you refer to 16010 is a batch number and not a BBE number as you thought.
As majority of Coopers Beers are Lager based, I can only presume this is why they have gone with this yeast.'
Yeah, but their batch numbers are a julian calendar date, sometimes with letters to distinguish different yeasts packaged on the same day.
Only the Pilsner (P) and European lager (L) come with a lager yeast.
The rest come with an ale yeast or a blend of ale/lager yeasts.
I just got a reply from Paul, Coopers' Technical Development Manager, Brewing Products.
he says:
"Yep, if it only carries a date code and no other letters, it's our Coopers AC yeast and has been packaged on the 160th day of 2010."
I might have a fresher sachet of this yeast at home, I'll check later and can bang it in the post.
otherwise I'd recommend a sachet of S23 fermented at 12C
I quite like it provided you can keep it at 12C, but there's always other strains like W-34/70 (http://www.fermentis.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/SFG_W34pdf.pdf)
I'll throw my name in forthis as well. And if Lord Eoin doesn't have a fresher yeast I'll post one to whoever wins too.

<edit by LordEoin :NOTE!! RAFFLE HAS BEEN MOVED TO HERE (http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,4106.0.html)>
I have a two 7g Coopers Lager yeast [P](comes with the pilsner or european kits, best at 12C) and one 7g Coopers Straight Ale Yeast [A](comes with the Irish Stout and Wheat kits, best at 20C) all in date :)
I took the feedback you guys posted up and let Young's see it, they are adament that their buyer has checked and that its a batch number.
I have just put on one of the Brewers Spring Mexican lagers and its bubbling away as we speak, looking forward to it
Aye, but their batch code is the julian date of manufacture.
I'm sure it will be fine anyway.
I've had wine yeast out of date by 3 years and it still worked perfectly fine ;D
