Title: Soft Drink Brewing Query ?
Post by: Greg2013 on September 22, 2013, 11:27:41 PM
Please don't shoot :o

Anybody know where i can get extract to brew up some fizzy soft drink? I say brew because i want to bottle it not keg it. If i have to keg i will just get the sodastream concentrate stuff but i will be giving all this away to some friends that don't drink. Something like below but a bit closer to home with less shipping costs.

I've made some lovely homebrew lemonade. About 0.5% so not suitable for dry alcoholics or muslims, but fine for your average non-drinkers. I was fine giving it to my kid. Look up recipes on homebrewtalk

Sent using a complex system of semaphore and ninjas.

Not Muslims but they are Latter Day Saints so same rules re alcohol, has to be completely alcohol free. Its more root beer and cream soda they like though not normal lemonade.

Fair enough, same advice, there are recipes on homebrewtalk for your own syrups. Some of the yanks put them on cornies.

I posted a link to a recipe for homemade cola syrup on another website awhile back:

I've made it a few times and it's not bad. You can use the juice from the fruit to make orangeade as well.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but you might pick up something useful in this:

Why are you avoiding SodaStream concentrates? They sound exactly like what you're looking for.

Because ideally i wanted to carb in the bottle, until someone reminded me that this would give a minute amount of alcohol as well. So sodastream it is, they actually seem to have a pretty good range and not too expensive either, need to construct a bottle filler first though as it must still be bottled. ;D

You could use physics to your advantage somehow. As in more dissolved CO2 at colder temperatures. Bulk condition, chill, bottle, serve a little warmer, smiles and good will all round.

Or get new friends. You were all thinking it.
