Title: Empty barrels after the RIS brew:
Post by: Hop Bomb on September 24, 2013, 07:19:17 PM
Just wondering what other clubs are planning/doing with their barrel. Will most of the oak & whiskey notes leave with the RIS?

Have you had any of the second beer from the barrel? Is the whiskey tang almost nil second time round?

Conor wanted to do a lambic in the south Dublin barrel till he explained that it could possibly contaminate my brewing shed. We had major problems getting enough capacity with our RIS first time around due to needing 220 litres.

Like the idea of a Dipa but just not sure what I would do with 20-40 litres of it.

There is always one  ;D isn't there. I knew as soon as I wrote this that someone was going to reply with this comment. Don't see myself polishing off this much high alcohol beer anytime soon in addition to the 40+ litres I will get from the 1st run from our barrel.
