Truth be told i am reticient to go cutting into it now even though the hole saws have arrived, i don't mind doing the keg but cutting into something so shiny doesn't seem right somehow?  ;D

Not sure, i am thinking now i may see if i can get someone to drill it for me first. Was going to make the keg my BK and this my HLT but now that i see it in the flesh i may switch that around, especially since the keg is aluminium  :o

Thinking now two kettle elements and a ball valve anyway to get me going.

Id defo go the other way around. You need more capacity in your BK. Your HLT can be smaller as you heat your strike & sparge water separately (well I do anyway - no point waiting around for 60 litres to hit temp when you only need 20 to start with)

Im in touch with angel homebrew in the UK for my mash tun & boiler conversions. Very helpful. They've sight glass kits, taps, you name it.

What would you suggest going with for this BK monster ?

What batch size are you planning?

Im staying with propane for my boil kettle. Im no expert on electric elements but Ive 2 x 2.4 kw in my HLT. Thats a 50 litre pot. Heats sparge water to 78c in 25 mins (40 litres) from ground water temp.

Your mash run off into the BK will be in the 70's so you'd be grand with two elements especially if yer only doing a 5 gallon batch.

Well technically i suppose i could do a 15 gallon batch though i can't ever see myself doing that TBH LOL. I would be looking at 5 gallons into the FV but when i get going with the AG after a while i will have the capacity to do double or triple batches if i need, also if anybody is stuck for a big brew day at least now i can help out.

Also twill be great for cooking the Ham at Christmas  :P Has to be electric for me for convenience of use and repair DTL.
