i.e. the digital yokeys for measuring distances?
How accurate does it need to be? The ultrasonic ones aren't very accurate. You're better off with a laser.

I built an ultrasonic proximity detector for my 3rd year college project - using a basic stamp and a couple of transducers. It never worked once...ever!!!... i got a B+ grade for it. Still have it - you can have that if ya want.
