Although for general airplane models the spitfire is great for painting because of the distinctive cammo designs

Christ! How did we do this without Google? books and things??
This is bringing back all sorts of flashbacks from 20 years ago, carefully painting exhaust smear around the outlets and wear marks on the leading edges... ;D
What about the Thunderbolt AKA the jug ugly plane but you could pepper it with bullets and it would still bring you home. I think it weighed 8 ton. Stukas without fighter cover were easy targets for hurrys and spits
Ye hsve me remembering other great WW2 planes. Voight Corsair was american fighter with a gull wings. Japs could not beat it. More crashed then ever shot down by the Japs.
I like heli's both in kit form and also RC.
Here' a kit I did of the Cobra AH as flown in the first gulf war it was sponsored ny Malahide Rugby Club. I am down as gunner and my mate Steve (real Heli Pilot) is in the rear seat flying it!
The blades drooped on helicopter model I ever made
Last year I got to fulfil my childhood dream to fly a WW2 fighter..T6 Texan..lived up to all expectations

Hey Will do you remember a Clint Eastwood/Richard Burton film "Where eagles Dare". 1968 in which the Nazi's had a mountain top castle and in true film story writing someone decided the best way the German Officers could get up there quickly was by Helicopter. But the Germans had no working models as this technology was only developing."No one will notice" say's the Director. Caused a mini storm among model buff's trying to find out what model it was. :)

the only thing was you had to leave your brain in a box otherwise you would begin to believe that all the allies needed to win the war was a couple of Clints Richards and a few other action types. Ever notice that the German army could overrun most of Europe but could shoot a mountain of bullets at these hero's and miss and then Clint would fire 30 bullets and kill 28 and wound 2. Then toss a shrapnel grenade under a 10 ton truck and blow it 20 metres into the sky.
Is that a Typhoon :)
Proud of myself. Bro got me an airfix dogfight kit for christmas. One down, one to go ;D
Bristol Beaufighter TF.X
