Title: How To Convert A Plastic Beer Keg To Accept Normal CO2 Regulator Disconnect?
Post by: Greg2013 on October 10, 2013, 01:00:13 PM
Sorry for the long title. Had a plastic beer keg given to me recently which i am ordering a new 8gram pin cap and tap for. It occured to me that it would be handy to be able to gas this from my 6kg tank that i use for my cornies (btw i need more of those as well lol). I can't see a way of sealing the normal keg gas post onto one of those plastic caps. Any ideas or alternative ways i might do this ? ???

Either way i will be ordering the pin cap and tap anyway for  mobility and ease of use but would love to be able to gas this keg from a normal CO2 tank ;D

That is the keg i have though i suspect mine is probably older than the HBW site  :o :P

Yes. It can be done. You can get a little jobbie that screws into the lid and the other end goes onto a barb on your reg. I can't find them with a quick search but I have one and I'll take a picture when I have time. You just need to remove the rubber seal inside the lid.

The pressure can't move the seal to push in gas. I tried it and it needs to be take off the valve. Mind you I was going for a low pressure so the beer wouldn't come gushing out. I found you need two lids then. One with the seal on the valve and one without, unless you can get it off without wrecking it.....unlike me.
