Title: CO2 Cylinder query
Post by: Mossy on October 12, 2013, 11:46:07 PM
Hi, I picked up a co2 cylinder last week and I'm in the market for a regulator but I think the connection on the cylinder might be different to what connects to the regulator. Do I kneed an extra connection? If you know anything about this could you please fill me in, thanks. I've attached a few pic's of my tank. Cheers

Looks like a Nitrogen or mixed gas fitting.  You coulld get an adaptor, but it would be nearly as cheap to get a new tank.  Or if you can get it filled you could get a mixed gas reg and get some nitro stout flowing.

Yep what you have there is not a co2 tank - its a mixed gas nitro tank. These have female connector fitted.
Co2 tanks have a male fitting - same as fire extinguisher.
The nitro mix requires a different regulator - which is rated for higher pressure.

So your next step depends on what you want...
co2 or nitro mix?

If co2 -> you need a co2 cylinder and a co2 reg.
if nitro mix -> you need a nitro reg - this will have a male fitting that fits into the bottle you have.
