Title: Belgian Elderflower Saison
Post by: nigel_c on February 04, 2013, 07:35:13 PM
Week off this week so this is the first brew of the week. Inspired by a recipe I got from Rossa.

Belgian Elderflower Saison
Btach Size 21L
OG 1.054
IBU 30
Yeast Wlp 568 Belgian Saison Blend

Lager Malt 4.25 Kg
Wheat Malt 0.3 5 Kg
Vienna Malt 0.65 Kg

Magnen 15g @ 60 min
Elderflower 10g @ 30 min
Elderflower 20g @ 10 min
Elderflower 70g @ 0 min

Mashed at 66c for 70 min.

Yeast pitched from vile. No starter cause was unplanned brew. Underpitching may cause some more Belgian yeast character to develop. Plan on upping fermenting temp to mid 20's after 3-4 days.

As am I. Tried Rosssa's elderflower saison at tog a few weeks ago and was just what I was looking to do. He did all flowers no hops but I think I needed a few IBU to balance it out a bit. Can't wait to try this one. Might be a while cause I think this one will benefit from a bit of aging.
