Well i just used kwik klear two stage finings today on a couple of inmate brew wines that have been sitting for months but still not cleared all the way out. 1-2ml part A per gallon goes in first, shake well. Then 30 minutes later add 1-2ml part B per gallon and shake well.
Leave to stand for 24-72 hours and syphon off sediment. Stubborn brews may require a second treatment. Enough in the pack to treat between 70-135 litres of either beer or wine/cider.

Did you take pictures?
This would make a great little product review if you're interested in fleshing it out a bit and sharing the outcome and any thoughts on the product :)

Well its about 12 hours in now but i will go take some pics, sorry have no before pics but what you will see is pretty much the same, has not cleared much yet.
before pics aren't vital, what's more important is the after pics to show the achieved clarity and resulting lees :)

In fairness though, this is by fay your most informative vid. And keep the 'slán go fóil', that's a nice little catchphrase

My Tuppenceworth:
I tried Kwik Klear along with mostly every other fining agent at some time and all work to a certain degree and after a fashion.
Two years ago I stumbled on a product called Sparkolloid Hot Mix which is a fining agent made by Scott Labs in the US. The reviews I read at the time were so positive I had to get some and try it myself. Getting it was initially a problem as it's not sold outside the US, as far as I know. After mush searching I came across a HBS in Taxas that sells it in 112g bags and has no problem shipping it to Ireland.
Here's a link to the product on their site, http://www.brewhaus.com/Clearing-Agent-Sparkolloid-4oz-P853C91.aspx
There's 112g in the bag and a 25lt wash requires 8g prepared in 2 cups of hot water simmered for 15 minutes and added to the beer/wine and left overnight. I've tried to attach a pic of two washes I treated last week but not sure if it has worked the file is a jpeg and only 127kb but doesn't show in preview ::)
Anyway, Sparkolloid is the only fining agent I ever use these days as it never fails to clear a ferment completely to a crystal finish. ;)

Cheers Parrot, actually i have a couple of online brewer friends in USA that swear by this stuff also, they reckon its the best all round clearing agent for absolutely anything, even washes. Thanks for the link, if shipping is not a killer i may just get some to check it out. ;D
Pic works fine. That's very clear! But delivery costs are $43! :|

Fook that so boss :o
Been doing a bit of research and if you email these homebrew shops in the US they will apparently use the US postal service. I've emailed to get a quote. If it's cheap enough I don't mind buying a few packets for a group buy.

Just got a quote the other night from a HB shop in Ohio for a delivery of soft drink extract bottle, little tiny 2oz ones. Working with USPS it is going tp cost $16 USD to get two of these shipped to me. I can add a couple of more bottles or yeast packets but still will be only around 300 gr i reckon for $16 USD.
This makes me think a one pound bag or several bags will be killer shipping ? Worth looking into no doubt so thanks goat. BTW on ebay.com its $25 to ship a 1oz bottle of spakrolloid here. :o
People on here seem to have got it cheap to the UK so I'm hopeful. http://www.stillsmart.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=989&f=1

Read that cheers, sorry goat(name????) i re read your earlier post and saw that you had emailed for a quote, thanks for that and please keep us updated. Goat i think it may be worth while starting a separate thread for this as i have an interest in finding out more /
Just want to double check here, can you still bottle condition ok after using Sparkolloid?

At a guess i would say no. Anything that drops out that much yeast will not leave enough to carb effectively IMHO. I stand open to correction though.

I'd say you'd get there but it'd take the guts of 8 weeks to carbonate.

I buy my Sparkolloid from Rick Morris at Brewhaus in Texas and my last buy was 4lbs and shipping cost me USD30 on top of the pack price. That lot will last me about two years ;)
Anyone interested I'd be happy to provide a couple of samples to try out yourselves. PM me if you want to try it and I'll post you some. 6 X 20g samples available so first come first served.

i wonder if the bentonite is just better at dropping stuff out or if it was something specific in the tea-wine that quickclear couldn't bind to.

Have you tried bottle conditioning with the stuff?
Would it be possible to add it to the bottling bucket and let it all settle out in the bucket? Where presumably there will still then be enough yeast to carbonate it.

Thinking on it this morning i believe you are correct LE, This was a mish- mash tea wine thrown together as an experiment. TBH the bentonite although it has dropped out a lot has still not cleared the tea wine completely. What i plan to do at some stage is a side by side comparison between the two on a split batch, although not at the moment. ;D
No takers for the samples! Back in the pack they go.
I've never tried bottle conditioning. I only use kegs and mostly use Sparkolloid for wines anyway but it does work for both.

Here I must have missed this,I'll have some please. :)
Have brewed a Lager using Saflager W-34/70 yeast. After 17 days it is finished fermenting so today have boiled 500ml water and added 10grm's of sparkolloid, stirred it for 3 minutes until I made a paste mixture then gently stirred my Fermented beer and added it as is, hot.
I was at the beach over the summer, picked up some seaweed (carrageenan) and dried it.
Added about a teaspoon 10 mins before end of boil.
Doing a Proper Job clone which ended up a bit darker than it should be, but excellent clarity.
Yup, it's what Irish Moss is made from.
Also great boiled with lemons, oranges, water, sugar, cloves for nuking a cold.
Irish moss doesn't cost much, but it's nice knowing you collected it at the beach yourself.
