Just found this one today. Pretty cool.

Probably this, I prefer it over the original though...

Kelly Jones has the perfect voice for this.

For me, the best cover version; better than the original, is the Rolling Stones' version of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away". Then again, The Animals did a also a far better job imho of "House of the Rising Sun" than Woody Guthrie. Just showing my age, methinks ;)
One of my favourites was from a compilation of cover versions from 1992 which included many excellent covers, called Ruby Trax. It was released by NME to raise money for the Spastics Society. Track listing here:

But my favourite was this :

Though I also have a lot of time for Elbows cover of Independant Women:

Predictably going for Uncle Al and the boys.
20 years on and still disturbing. They added some of their own lyrics too. Either that or I just don't remember Rod Stewart mentioning KY jelly in the original.

The music in that is practically identical to the original but the lyrics are entirely different for some reason

I like these, some nice covers.

Big Black - The Model
Haha! Nice one, Mr. Happy. A truly excellent cover. 'Songs About F***ing' still gets regular spins on my MP3 player. A classic album.
Speaking of Steve Albini, we're seeing Shellac in Belfast in a couple of weeks, and again at the ATP festival in Camber Sands at the end of the month. Good times....
Speaking of good times - Mr. Albini got to meet my bro (left) and myself (right) when Shellac played The Button Factory in 2008:

On a completely different note to all your angry guitar music...

Faith No More were one of my favourite bands, but I always hated that 'Easy' cover. One of the more pointless covers, in my opinion.
Speaking of The Fall, who could forget:

A slight twist on the theme here, songs that are better known by their cover versions.
This song became pretty big when Jose Gonzales' cover was used in a Sony advert a few years back, but the original by The Knife is a far superior version:

Good one Bazza! I thought about posting up White Lightning. They played that when they were in Cork last year.

Same here. Saw them in The Point Depot in November 1992. Travelled up from Waterford on the bus specially to see them.
Saw them when they headlined Sunstroke in Dalymount in '93, I think. They were excellent and were only there because the Red Hot Chilli Peppers pulled out (thank Christ; they suck ass big time *awaits resulting shitsorm of abuse*).
Was amazing seeing songs like Woodpecker from Mars being done so well live. I thought Jim Martin was one of the coolest dudes on the planet.
