Does anyone know of an offie that sells alt beers?
Not sure if they are something that can be bought outside of Germany...
I have put in two lists below but beggars can't be choosers so let me know if any are available!
I need one from this list:
DAB Traditional, Hannen Alt, Schwelmer Alt, Grolsch Amber, Alaskan Amber, Long Trail Ale, Otter Creek Copper Ale, Schmaltz' Alt
And one from this list:
Altstadt brewpubs: Zum Uerige, Im Füchschen, Schumacher, Zum Schlüssel; other examples: Diebels Alt, Schlösser Alt, Frankenheim Alt
I've never seen an alt beer in Ireland but I know Porterhouse used to bring it in for their Oktoberfest a few years ago. Best bet I think would be to ask in Drinkstore, you never know, they might get a crate in.
If you had of said last month me or Partridge could have brought some back but maybe someone else is off to Germany soon?
Diebels is the biggest, your chances of finding that are strongest. I think Drinkstore have it.

Doubt you'll get anything from the first list, but I'm sure Redmonds in Ranelagh has had alts in the past - although I can't say for sure if they have them at the moment.
They're not on the Drinkstore website. If you can get in touch with Wally as well he could let you know if there is any in Ireland. He imports most of the German stuff and always knows what the other importers are bringing in. http://grandcrubeers.ie/
Also Zum Schlüssel is the nicest, imo.

difficult to find. The most likely would be diebels and frankenheim as they are some of the commercials.
They are quite difficult to find. If absolutely stuck I can bring in some from my keg. We make very good alts. It would however be limited to whats left prob 1 to 2 litres, but it a well lagered version true to syle.
Alts vary a lot, some use lager yeast, some ale, some condition in wood, some dont and various levels of colour and so on, in this regard 1 altbier brand may not sum up the style.
If theres no commercial we can still talk through what to expect from an alt and maybe me and kellie can give a background and hands on overview as we spend 5 days on an Altstadt venture earlier in the year

I don't know if it helps but Jo Burger in Dublin have a decent alt beer. I guess you'd need to track down their source or talk to them nicely about getting a bottle or two at a take away price.

I haven't tasted that beer before but I thought it was a marzen not an alt. Could be totally wrong though...

Franken is a province down South and fränkisch is a beer style or simply a beer named after the province. In this case Alt is a pronoun meaning old, not a noun referring to a beer style.
