Hi,
I am going to the rugby Saturday and I am wondering if they are any good pubs around Lansdown that sell craft beer.
Thanks
Paddy Cullens do rebel red. The Horse Show house does hooker. Gingerman ain't that d at away either in the town side as us Porterhouse Nassau (15-17 min walk)
What stand are you in?
The best is The Chop House at the corner of Shelbourne Rd and Bath Avenue. It had O'Hara's Red & Pale on tap and usually Dungarvin & a few others in bottles.
The Bath on Bath Avenue has about a dozen bottles. Mostly American beers like Sierra Nevada, Brooklyn Lager etc.. but a few Irish as well.
Up the other end the choice isn't as good. Synotts & The Horse Show have Galway Hooker. Cullens has Tom Crean's (they don't have Rebel Red any more) and Bellamys has 5 Lamps lager.
EDIT: I should have mentioned that you can drink on Merrion Road outside the pubs/shops. There's a designated tent/walkway put up on match days. You can bring your own or the local Spar has a decent selection of craft but it's 4 euro a bottle.
I am in the Green Entrance on Landsdown Rd so the Chop House is only up the Rd.
I will try it out.
I go to searsons on upper baggot street for a fix of galway hooker before games, then hit baggot street wines for a few cans of craft that fit nicely into ones coat pockets for during the game
beoir have an app called beoirfinder available on android which uses your phones gps to tell you where you can find pubs serving craft beer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omnicia.beoirfinder&hl=en
Nearest place to Landsdowne Road is www.thechophouse.ie - has bottles of Dungarvan according to the app
Other bars a little further away between city center and aviva are The Waterloo, Searsons & Dylan bar
