A valve (the liquid out one)on one of my Cornie Kegs came apart during a cleaning session and I have the one pictured below in two parts.
The part with the spring won't stay inside the ball lock fitting. I thought the three 'feet' on the insert should engage on a lip inside but the inside of the fitting is completely smooth above the screw treads. Am I missing a part?
Anyone got a spare or know where I can get one?
Parrot
just pop it in an screw it down gently locating it centrally with a small screwdriver if necessary so that it comes flush with the top of the post.
About 30% of mine are like this, and its better and easier for cleaning :)
Have a read of an excellent piece by Shiney

On the valves of my other Cornies the poppet feet appear to be engaged on a lip inside the fitting and don't just drop out like this one. Also, when fitted this one leaks water if put on its side - hence my question, am I missing something?
if its located centrally is it screwed down tight and flush?
It doesn't need to lock into the post just push off the top of your dip tube.
As mentioned by previous posters it should hold in place when the post is screwed onto the thread. If it's leaking you could try greasing the rubber ring on the poppet with some keg-lube.
Have a look at the three legs, one may be a bit more bent than the others. This happened to me before and I bent it back slightly with a pliers, but go easy, I'm sure they could snap and then you'll have to buy a new one. A lot of the online brew shops in England stock them. Just be wary as there are three or four different types.
As JC says, if the poppet is dropping it is more than likely the three feet below the spring.
Offer the feet up to the Keg (with Dip Tube inserted) and see if it sits centrally.
Then do the same with the disconnect housing, offer it feet first and see how much movement there is.
This shold give you an idea of how much adjustment you need to make if any.
It is possible that the poppet was replaced with an out of spec one at some stage in the past.
I bought these as part of a group buy early this year, I think, and all has been great with them until this happened but I think I found the problem. At the top of the dip tube there is a seal and it is perished to hell. I also noticed that this particular housing is 19mm whereas all the others are 22mm and the poppets in all the others have long legs instead of the short feet you can see in the pic I posted earlier.
Anyway, I replaced the seal with a silicone ring and added a little keg lube, as suggested, to the seal on the poppet and all is well again :)
Many thanks to all who offered assistance and advice ;) much appreciated

Glad you got sorted, are you sure they came from the group buy? As all the washers I had were new on the corny, not including the additional pack that you should have also got that came with each keg.

I bought 4 and the only thing I got with mine was one 'O' ring for the lid seal.

Ok So of the folks that purchased 4 kegs I don't see your name down below and none were delivered to wexford have you changed your username?
OK Detective CH, you got me.
Yep! I was away overseas for a while and when I returned I couldn't log in under my old username of Aidanmac. Tried to reset my password but never got the email the system said was sent so I just re-registered and then joined as full member ;D
Because of my lousy memory I couldn't remember the name of the nice guy I collected my kegs from but it was Shanna, sorry Declan Swiss Cheese memory! Just checked and it was actually in July of last year...see what I mean about my memory ::)

Busted!
Hi Aidanmac!
Yep I was involved with them too but you are right there was only a ring given out with them and I have already replaced my smaller seals on those kegs as although they were cheaper they weren't as good as the last batch.

Yes some of the seals on the group buy I organised were not great. However they are easily replaced and don't cost the earth.
Shanna
Cheap as Chips ::) I've replaced all of them now.
