good find, might be worth repeating with a different yeast, one that doesnt impart the twanginess he described. could be a fun experiment to do

I think Nisbetts carry these knob thermometers - I got the impression they are fairly top drawer.

Fantastic article. This is something I've often wondered about but never had anything like the level of commitment to actually test.

It's a Thermapen, they 're about 40EU on Amazon. I've just done a brew with one and I like them, very quick and easy to use. Also the first piece of kit outside work I've got that came with a calibration cert, which impressed me.
